What is the best nature for my pokemon to have...

Recommended Posts

Metus

I've just found out what the different natures actualy do, and now I'm not sure witch one would be best for some of the pokemon I am going to train next.

The pokemon are:

Flareon

Vaporeon

Jolteon

Espeon

Leafeon

What would be best for each one?

and choose from there

flareon - speed + sp.atk

vaporeon - sp.def + hp

jolteon - atk + sp.atk

espeon - sp.atk + sp.def

leafeon - sp.def + atk

use these stats for your raising choices

Well, depends on what you want. Most have a common use that I will post below.

Flareon has great physical attack, but it has pratically no use since it's best move is Fire Fang and Flame Charge does nothing since it has terrible speed. Best would be Mild or Gentle, as Flareon Defense isn't great at all and doesn't help it any.

Vaporeon is a nice Pokemon and is usually used as a wall. Defense and Sp. Def all the way! So Bold or Modest. Bold for great Defense and Vaporeon already has great Sp. Def and Modest for Sp. Attack.

Jolteon is mostly used as a Sp. Attacker and has great Speed. Timid is basically all you can really have as Speed should be maxed out.

Espeon ... I don't really know actually! Though, I would recommend using it as a Sp. Attacker with Modest or even possibly Timid, but you would probably want your Sp. Atk maxed out.

Leafeon is one that I don't know much about either, but I'll try my best to help. It's best stats are Attack and Defense, but grass Pokemon have so many weaknesses that it's pointless to care about it's Defense. I'd say go for an Adamant nature.

To help you out most would be to use EV training, but that will take you a long time and I'm assuming this is for casual battling, as most of these Pokemon except for Vaporeon and possibly Jolteon don't seem to be used as much.

EV training is when you let your pokemon hold certain items that make them become stronger upon leveling, like the macho brace. However, you can also use items like hp ups or feathers, since they perminantly increase stats. I ev trained my kingdra, making it have high tolerence to special attacks.

{Edit... I don't think there really is a point in posting this.. the very, very basics of EVs is in what SD said}

Actually, I would Suggest to invest in Vaporeons HP...

Flareon

I would pick Jolly or Adamant personally.

Vaporeon

Calm, hands down. Vaporeon is best as a wall/tank with his 130/95 in HP and Special Defense. Although Wish is the best competitive move for it and it needs to be bred onto him, Vaporeon can still stall very well, and has cool moves such as Surf and Ice Beam for some offensive coverage.

Jolteon

Timid. Jolteon is crazy for speed, and a Timid Jolteon can outrun some things even 10 levels higher than it and it also has significant enough Special Attack to hurt his opponents hard.

Espeon

If Espeon has Magic Bounce, I'd suggest Calm. If not, Modest or Timid.

Leafeon

Jolly or Impish. Leafeon has miserable Special Attack, but has an Attack stat of 110, Speed of 95, and Defense of 130, so expressing those stats can go a long way.

What would be best for each one?

And for the record:

Glaceon should probably get Modest. A 130 Special Attack STAB Ice Beam hurts like living heck, and Glaceon really doesn't have anything else that noteworthy going for it, so keeping that going is the real seller for him. I'd stick to Modest, personally.

Umbreon should be either Careful or Sassy; the latter if you're using Curse. 95/110/130 are great Defensively, so Umbreon is very well tailored to be a wall. It can do other things like Work Up or Curse to boost its Attack, allowing it to use moves like Payback (since Umbreon will often go last) to full extent.

Leafeon needs either jolly or adamant, especially if you're gonna use it as a sweeper. If you do, it should probably have swords dance (if jolly) or agility (if adamant) and leaf blade. Let the PWNing begin!

I'm not sure if my timing was exactly correct, but I'd recommend that you max Jolteon's EVs in Speed and Special attack, while giving it either a timid or modest nature, depending on which stat you want him/her to be stronger in.
