[RESOLVED] Loading issue for version 2.93.0 Android client

The development team is currently investigating reports that the version 2.93.0 Android client fails to load to the login screen when launched. Players who are experiencing this issue visit the support portal and submit a ticket with as much detail as you can provide about your device and network connection.

 

We apologize for any frustration or inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we work to investigate and resolve this issue.

The development team has confirmed that this issue occurs for any device running Android 12, and is likely related to the mandatory Android API level upgrade that was required for the version 2.93.0 release. We are currently working to identify the specific cause of and fix for this issue, and will be releasing a new version 2.93.1 2.93.0 Android client to the Google Play store once that work has been completed and verified as fixed by the QA team.

The development team has identified the root cause of this issue and are in the process of generating a new Android build that will fix the issue. This build will still need to go through the testing and validation process, so our target for making this new build available in the Google Play store is Monday afternoon (Pacific time). 
 

The Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest tournament rewards event will be extended by 1 week to provide Android users with the originally intended number of weekends to compete for Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest booster rewards.

The development submitted the new Android build to Google for review late Friday in the hopes that it would be approved over the weekend so that we could push it live this afternoon. Unfortunately, it appears that all Google app submission reviews are taking longer than usual right now. The new build is still sitting in the In Review status with Google, and we have no way of knowing how much longer it will be before Google approves it for release. At this point, we're revising our target for making the new build available from this afternoon to Tuesday afternoon.

There has been no movement or communication from Google on their review of the new Android build since I posted yesterday's update in this thread. The development team submitted a support ticket through the Google Play store's app developer portal earlier this afternoon to request that Google expedite the review and approval of the new build but all we've received so far is the automated response confirming that the ticket was received.

 

Unfortunately, there's not much more we can do at this point beyond waiting to hear back from Google, and we've got no way of knowing when that will occur. I will continue to update this thread as more information becomes available.

Still complete radio silence from Google in terms of both their review of the new Android build and the support ticket that was filed yesterday afternoon.

Google finally opened a dialog with us late this afternoon and we've made progress in working through this hold up. At this point, it's looking likely that we'll be able to get the new Android build pushed live some time tomorrow.

The new Android build was pushed live to the Google Play store this morning at 8:30am PST. It may take some time to propagate across all regions of the store, so if you don't see it in your region's Google Play store yet you should check back periodically.

 

We're in the process of pulling login records for the last few months to identify as many players who would have been affected by this issue as possible, so that we can grant some additional items to their account in appreciation of their patience while we worked to resolve this issue. It may take us some time to pull this list together, but I'll post another update in this thread when the grants go out.
