Welcome to the Sunyshore Trivia Channel!

Here you can win cards or maybe even packs. All you have to do is be the first to answer the current trivia question. These questions can be from any topic, but will mostly be Pokemon-related. This game is in Beta angel_smile.png so I'm trialling to see how the best way of going about things is.

----------------

The current question is:

<font color="#000080">What is the name of the first attack of the Pokemon card in the current format whose set number is 3B in base 15 and the number of cards in the set is equal to the atomic number of the element which is named after the Norse god of thunder?</font>

Post when you want to take a guess at the answer.

----------------

Rules:

  • Do not edit your posts to change your answer or 'save' a space for your answer.

  • You cannot win more than twice in a row.

  • You are only allowed one further guess per question (unless otherwise stated), after being told the first guess was wrong, so a total of 2 guesses per question.

  • Prizes are awarded at my discretion depending on difficulty, how often you have won, how happy I am, what cards I have, the alignment of Saturn and Jupiter, etc.

Other stuff:

  • You are most welcome to donate prizes for the competition. Just offer me whatever it is with a note that it is for the Sunyshore Trivia Channel in comments and I'll say that you donated it when I use it as a prize.

  • I will post the correct working out. If someone spots an error in my working, further prizes may be awarded.

  • Post any further suggestions :)

Hello Trainers!

I'm glad to see everyone having fun and enjoying the forums. I just want to take a quick second to remind everyone to please keep it Pokemon related.

Thanks Trainers!

<strike>Well if I may know this one I know that it does about 100 but since it is strong against carvine which will take 2x the damage then it is 200 damage done but with the defender use on it it take 180 damage because defender the Pokemon it is attached to take 20 less after applying the weakness and restive and please if you have any serious Pokemon related questions go and ask it on project-Dex.</strike>

You're right in saying I forgot to mention what Pokémon he used Defender on (I mistakenly assumed it was the same as PlusPower and applied to everyone).

However, the Defender was applied to Carnivine.

And I don't think the correct answer has been given yet.

<strike>well no that is wrong it is 140 because of defeneder has the attached pokeon take 2 damage counter less.</strike>

I think it's 160. Bursting Inferno does 80 damage. Before applying Weakness, PlusPower is added, for a base damage of 90. Multiply that by 2 for the Weakness, and the damage becomes 180. Now, this is where Defender activates, for a reduction of 20 damage. 180 - 20 = 160, which is the damage done to Carnivine.

(I already posted my answer before - this is just an explanation)

None of the answers match the answer I have so far.

Also, testing means that I have implemented a new rule of maximum 2 guesses per question in total.

EDIT: ignore the above for the moment

I think I made a mistake in my answer!

So therefore, I think that Monkeymotz wins, as my new answer is 140. I'm still getting the hang of things, bear with me :P I was silly and didn't specify the expansion of PlusPower, but because it should be assumed BW, PlusPower would be applied before W+R and I thought it was after.

Base damage of Bursting Inferno: 80

PlusPower was played: increases to 90

Suicune and Entei Legend is both Water and Fire type so both weakness and resistance are applied. Rules say Weakness is applied first.

Carnivine is 2x weak to fire: doubles to 180

Carnivine is -20 resistant to water: reduces to 160

Defender was played: reduces to 140

Stick and Absorb, Kricketune and left-handedness do not affect damage.

Unless anyone has any objections to that working in the next 10 minutes.

I'm gonna take a guess of it being 110 because 80 - 20 (resistance) = 60

60 x 2 (weakness) = 120

120 + 10 (pluspower) = 130

130 - 20 (resistance) = 110

So 110 :)

My next guess would be 130 because I don't know whether weakness or resistance comes first.

80 x 2 (weakness) = 160

160 - 20 (resistance) - 20 (resistance) + 10 (pluspower) = 130

Therefore 130.

<img src="http://www.pokemontcg.com/javascripts/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/png/whatchutalkingabout_smile.png" alt="" /> I totally forgot about suicune being water... or most importantly most legends being dual types.. thats what I get for not playing them D:

It is indeed 140 :-P I was actually just writing up my explanation for it too

Okay so I've already answered, but I'm going to put in my explanation as to how I came across my conclusion and please correct me if I'm wrong. Because I really think I have the right answer...

1) Castor used a PlusPower, this is applied before weakness and resistance takes place therefore instead of 80 damage, Bursting Inferno now does 90 damage.

2) Carnivine is weak to fire, but resistant to water and SEL is both. Therefore, due to the double for weakness 90x2=180 damage, but then since it also has resistance of -20 to water, 180-20=160

3) Defender was placed on Carnivine, this means that it takes -20 damage AFTER weakness and resistance is calculated. so 160-20=140

4) Bursting Inferno does 140 damage :-P
