Here is a thread from another Forum Post that I believe is relevant to the Avatar Creator forum.

To the TCGO team - please take this into consideration while developing the Avatar creator tool.

I'm really excited to see the Pokemon TCG come online, like other TCG games have done. I was a big fan of the gameboy Pokemon TCG.

However, the experience of this game doesn't really feel like the Pokémon brand and franchise to me. The characters/avatars look like generic vector illustrations for social websites with a low budget. Vector illustrations look clean, but are too easy to create and it really sticks out. Pokemon is one of the largest gaming Franchises, it should be funded more. The music makes me feel like I'm playing a certain popular city-builder game. Until you get to the actual cardplaying, it feels like I'm playing some other game. Maybe this is because the social idea of the game is trying to separate itself from the pokemon theme (so it's like you're playing a game inside of a game), but I still don't really like that.

I think making it a flash game was a good choice. It makes it accessible anywhere as long as someone has an internet connection. A game that's just about cards doesn't need an executable to run anyway, it's not like it's intense 3-D graphics here :) The graphics do get a little laggy for me though, which is one thing I **** about flash, Its performance is terrible.

Well that's all I had to say.

i agree with the avatars design... i assume it has something to do with child protection or similar, so you cannot put some offensive images... just i don't understand why they couldn't just use the avatars from pokemon.com.

they are way cuter and stick to pokemon games chars design. i didn't care about music, you can just mute it and listen to your favourite rolling stones songs LOL but the music from the advertisment is really cool.

One major issue i noticed in the forums is that every topic is blue on a light blue background... it is hard to notice sticky/important threads.

one last thing, the reverse/holos effect isn't the coolest around :)

Hope this is constructive, the game itself is awesome, keep up the good work and keep the beta up too ;)

Does that mean we can't dress our Avatar in a pair of Misty's shorts? <img src="http://www.pokemontcg.com/javascripts/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/png/embarassed_smile.png" alt="" />

All joking aside, I would have to agree with Old Man Rob. I think the anime quality of the Pokemon characters and world should be mirrored in the online card game. If we're wanting our children to play this game online, are they really going to want an avatar that looks like some college kid in a wife beater, grunge shirt, and aviator glasses. [no offense superstarsiro]. Let's give the kids an option to build avatars that look like Pokemon trainers!

I agree. The characters just look cheap and don't make the game look very official.

Maybe a word with the character designer is in order.

I agree completely.... That's one of the first things I noticed about the game. It's also one of the only things I dislike.. I want Pokemon-style characters, please :c

i agree to but just by seeing both side i think they are trying to make it look like a card came not a video game

Well, the team that is developing TCGO and the Trainer Challenge don't have access to the same tools, staff, and artists the mainstream video game makers have (I'm mainly refering to Ken Sugimori here)

As far as I know, the team has limited help from their Japanese division. But I know where you guys are coming from here. Lets remember: This game is NOT from Japan, like all the others have been, so yeah, things are going to be different.

I agree that the avatars should probably be more "edgy". A teen in a bandana here doesn't look nerly as cool as the teen in the bandana from the gameboy game.

Keep the music though, it's relaxing, which is what I come here to do. :)

I think it looks like some American-produced, wannabe-anime. Done wrong, unlike Avatar: The Last Airbender, though, that's fantastic. Eh, actually, that's not the best description for the way things look here. It seems like what's left of an anime dubbed by 4Kids. Oh, how do I best describe what it seems like...
