Why Emote Then Leave?

I've noticed a lot of players emote at the coin toss section of a match and say "you have a good deck" etc and leave.

My question is, is this some sort of code for something or are they just quitting?

* when I say "a lot", I've literally "won" 12 matches in a row before due to this.

* Only happens in the Legacy queue.

Edit: 2 people actually downvoted a legitimate question from someone who is/was at the time of typing new to the game, on a subject that they have had no prior knowledge of in any game ever... 😆 whoa! those people really need an avenue to vent or something 🤣

GrimBeard this is an unofficial play in legacy which is called genting or gentleman's aggrement. The win is based on coin flip, the one who wins coin flip will say well played and the oppornent will concede

Ahhh okay. Thanks for responding. Never came across this type of thing before so I was VERY puzzled by this. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

Edit: Downvoted for thanking a person who provided an explanation to a question... 🤣  I'm betting this is a salty person I beat online and the salt led them here 😂

Wow thank You for explaining, I didn't know that and wondered for some months, why this occured frequently - but only in Legacy.

Can you tell us how this Gentleman's agreement started...? It is still weird, even knowing that it is some kind of code between players - as they don't really gain anything from it 🤔

(actually two players spammed emotes excessively for about two minutes. Not very gentleman-like, so I blocked them......)

Agreed, it is weird that it exists and that it somehow started. There's two things they can gain from this - at least from my understanding - which is a fast win contributing to their monthly/daily rewards and as a byproduct getting into the next match faster due to a win being based on a coin toss.

I dislike genting because when I put the game on, no surprises here, I want to play the game. I'm just not interested in a coin flipping match so personally, I just wait for the player to decide if they are actually going to be playing or leaving. They made the choice after all of which game they are playing within an actual game, not the other player i.e. Pokemon cards or coin flips.

I'd be really interested in knowing this too if anyone could help please?

People need to stop doing this in legacy.... as it ******** the terms of service... if pokemon finds out who is doing and where it is happening they will clamp down on each account doing it. Well theoretically they would anyway. I haven't exactly heard of anyone having their account suspended for doing it, but why break the rules? Just play the game and enjoy each match? I don't guess I'm goofy? I never give up in legacy, have 12 legacy decks... lol

I constantly delete and create legacy decks. I get an idea in my head and make it. Try it out and tweak it a bit then decide ultimately it's "alright" and create whatever my new idea is. I like to try and create themed legacy decks for example; create a monkey themed legacy deck that only uses cards that are monkey themed (that includes items and supporters).

I've found myself googling a supporters back story before to see if I could use a card in my "Hot Bacon" aka "Fire Pig" deck 😁 .... yes, I am that sad BUT it makes me happy and hurts no one so 😁 😁
