Best pack for beginners?

Recommended Posts

MASTERMajora

Hi! I'm new to the forums, so I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong spot.

I've been playing Pokemon TCG very casually for years, and just got into the TCGO about two weeks ago. As such, I don't have many cards and don't know all that much about the current meta.

My question to everyone here is what's the best pack to buy with tokens? Which ones are the best for getting a beginner on the road to building a decent standard deck?

Thanks in advance!

Any of the 3 newest is good. team up/unbroken bonds/unified minds.

those 3 sets all have popular trainer and pokemon cards.

According to me, the best thing to buy with tokens is one of each theme deck from each standard expansion.

You will get a lot of usefull trainers, and you will be able to complete your daily challenges (except for metal and fairy)

Moreover, when you win 10 times (or is it 12 times ?) with one of them in trainer challenge, you get a free booster from the same expansion, making it a great deal ! :)

Apart from that, the best standard booster pack for the moment is unified minds.

I play since September. I'm happy with Unified Minds.

Hi! I'm gonna get the 4th star in ptcgo trainer challenge. What first actual deck should I buy? I have only 1 GX: Greninja & Zoroark-GX. Unified Minds? Still now?

And where is my Ninetales for Vulpix from Born of Fire? Strange... I thought I'd get this card.

Check this post from within the last 24 hours for the latest list of best theme decks. That list is as good (or better) against the trainers as it is with other players.

https://forums.pokemontcg.com/topic/74380-theme-deck-tier-list/

As for the Ninetales, the deck was edited because it was too strong at the time. If you look at the list you've found for it, it should show this (on Bulbapedia they show the initial build and the 2.41 build).

This can only be done with the online-exclusive decks, and they really should consider changing them again now that official Theme decks have gotten stronger, unless they intend to release a new set of online decks.

(There is no indication they'll release new decks. They stopped doing anything creative with online item availability some time ago, other than offering the latest set as event prizes for a limited time after each release. But that's a matter for another forum.)

Ah, rebalanced. Hm, strange, but Hidden Depths and Crushing Current look strong. Ok, I got it. Thank you.

P.S. Nice, Rillaboom is just the grass deck I need in my progress.

Crushing Current and Hidden Depths lost big, too. And yes, I think Rillaboom might be the best choice with the current set of starter decks lacking grass.
