Card Decks (URGENT)

So I’m not that good at making decks out of cards so I need some deck ideas (NOT THEME DECKS) I was playing with a friend and his cards weren’t that good but the way they helped each other was amazing and I want that type of deck. If you guys can help please reply with cards that work well with each other. Also please reference which energy and trainer cards I should put in. Thank you if you did. And i understand if u could’t. What type of decks are you looking at ?

It sounds like you're looking for techniques about combos and synergy.  Very good, but you will need to learn a lot on your own, which means asking more specific questions.  Without knowing anything about your collection or skill level, it would take a 400-page book.

 

A couple good pages, right here on the forum, were written with players like you in mind (hat tip: @Felidae_).  Although the deck lists might be dated, you'll gain a lot by reading them.  You should check them out.

I'd also recommend that that you start with the official Pokémon site.  If you go to the Play Pokémon Events page, that sidebar includes Strategy, all of the rules, and even the winning deck lists from big tournaments.

This this this, to see what the actual good decks people are using are. I also know you said NOT them decks, but considering taking your favorite theme deck and modifying it, removing some cards you feel are a waste of space and adding some cards you want to try out. Thats a great way to learn deck building because after trying and replacing a few cards a few times you end up with an entirely new deck. This is a skill that will carry over well once you try making a deck from scratch: replacing underwhelming cards with new cards is how you work towards a good deck.

because most of the "best" decks require a lot of good rare cards from various sets so unless you have a bunch of booster pack codes and/or willing to put in the time trading for the cards you want, modified theme decks will be all you really have the means to make.
