[GENERAL] Cannot open game - Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error

Hi all,

 

I am trying to open PTCGO and I get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error! - Program: This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

 

I have tried uninstalling but the uninstall hangs at preparing files for removal. I have tried using Revo Uninstaller but again the uninstall hangs, I have tried manually deleting and reinstalling from a fresh download of the installer from the website.

 

Any help or ideas would be appreciated!!!

Thank you for letting us know.

 

I would first recommend locating and running the Refresher.exe file located in your Pokémon TCG Online folder.

 

Here is the Refresher Method how to:

 

Without uninstalling the game, download the latest installer from the TCG Online download page: http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-tcg/play-online/download/

Run the installer.

Find the folder in which you installed the game, named Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, and run the Refresher executable manually.

Run the game client and log in.

 

 

If that doesn't help, try out this Manual Program Update:

 

Without uninstalling the game, download the latest installer from the TCG Online download page: http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-tcg/play-online/download/

Run the installer.

Open the add/remove programs window in control panel.

Right click The Pokémon Trading Card Game Online.

Choose the Change option.

This will run the Refresher executable, after which you should be able to Repair or Uninstall the game.

If repairing doesn't correct the issue, choose Uninstall from the menu.

After the game has successfully uninstalled, reinstall the game using the newest installer file from http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-tcg/play-online/download/

Run the game client and log in.

 

If you continue to experience an issue, please submit a ticket by tapping the support portal link in my signature, logging in and selecting the Pokémon TCG Online category and finally clicking "Contact Us".

 

I'm also editing the title of your thread to reflect this sub's format.

Morning, 

 

Thanks for your response, when I run the installer the 1st time which operation do I perform? I can select Modify, Repair or Remove.

You must have it (signatures) turned off in the Forums settingsJSYK, you can always get to the Support Portal by clicking Customer Service at the very bottom of any page.
