'Gotta Catch-Em All' about to be overhauled

Hey everyone, just came across some news that just might get your attention.  By now, you heard that Sword and Shield is going to be region specific when it comes to what Pokemon is going to be in it, like with any game involving Kanto.  Yet as it turns out, that is just the beginning when it comes to Pokemon games on the Switch.

Remember when they removed the National PokeDex from Gen VII, well from the sounds of things, that well not be coming back ever, along with any possibilities of bringing all of the Pokemon from older games into Gen VIII games.  The reason behind that is because the increase in number of Pokemon from each generation seems to have become too much for the people behind-the-scenes.

The way they describe it, with Gen VIII bringing the number of Pokemon up to possibly 1000, the creators decided to do a 'less is more' approach with Gen VIII, and make it a new standard.  In some ways, I think after all they went through to bring Pokemon to life on the 3DS, along with the Let's Go games, I think somebody at The Pokemon Company has decided to slam on the brakes when it comes to making game for the Switch, and take things on a slow and steady approach.  In some ways, if they were to try and bring them all in, the only options I can think of is either do it on an official Pokemon MMORPG, or make a game where they go all out, try to take full advantage on what the Switch has to offer.

Well, here it is, what I was able to pick up.  What's your opinion to all this?

As for me, I don't mind it, since it feels more like lightening the load when it comes to things like filling out the PokeDex.

I may be alone, but more and more characters has almost "become too much" for me as a player.  It's not that I can't familiarize myself with new names, etc., but that the more there are, the less special they've become as a whole.  Obviously, it's too late to go back in time, and slow down their game development, but I wish they had learned sooner that the majority of their fan base still thinks of the 151 originals as their favorites usually.

I would be totally fine if they just created new regions, created some Legendaries and Mythicals, and then just use variations of older Pokémon.

I'm a bit disappointed by the news, but it won't be enough to stop me from getting the games. They'll be a day 1 buy for me, just as the majority of Pokemon games have been.

Only people with no real problems could get upset about this, and I think the reaction as a whole to these news were laughable. The game will still have enough older pokemon and lots of new ones, and the ones that won't make it into SwSH might make it into other main pokemon games in the future.

The only thing Gamefreak shouldn't have done is the "we are doing this because of higher quality animations" reasoning, which was a very silly PR move on their part, since even though the models themselves are of higher quality, it was quite obvious from the E3 gameplay that they are still using the animations from XY. Now all the idiots keep harping on about this and are trying to convince (and are succeeding) the angry mob that older, non-handheld pokemon games with obviously inferior visual presentation were somehow more "expressive". So yeah, big whoopsie there from Masuda.

I'm personally still looking forward to gen 8 and will pass judgment on the new games once I have paid for and experienced the actual finished product. There is also this thing called "voting with your waller"; I, for example, had zero interest in the Let's Go games, and instead of being all edgy and angry about them on the internet I just didn't buy them.
