I played a lot during XY and am seeing lots of new mechanics in the sun and moon sets. Can someone explain them to me?

Pokemon Gx:Equivalent to pokemon EX except usually share the same stages(basic, stage 1, stage 2) as their regular versions of the pokemon. Are considered different pokemons than their regular counterpart so you could for instance play 4 charizards and 4 charizard gx in same deck. Give your opponent 2 price cards when knocked out. Have GX attack:you can only use 1 gx attack of one of your gx pokemons and only once per game. Usually these attacks are more powerful than any other attack on pokemon in damage or in effects.

Tag Team gx pokemons: More powerful gx pokemons that instead of giving 2 price cards if knocked out give 3 price cards. Usually have gx attacks that have additional effect if reguirements(usually additional energies attached to the pokemon) are met.

Prism star cards:Cards that have powerful effects but instead of you being able to play 4 copies per card, you are able to play 1 copy of each prism star card. Also if they get to the discard pile by any means, they are instead placed into lost zone.

Ultra Beasts: pokemons that have Ultra Beast text on them. Certain cards offer effects only for Ultra Beasts( for instance stadium Ultraspace lets you seach ultra beasts and Beastring lets you attach 2 energies to ultra beast if opponent has 4 or 3 price cards left).

Hopefully got most of the things listed :D

The Lost Zone-This is like a discard pile, except if it goes there it never comes back. This is where Prism Star cards go after they’ve been discarded, KOed, etc. There are a lot of cards that interact with the Lost Zone.

Thanks, both of you. That makes sense. One thing that initially confused me that makes a lot more sense now is that I initially thought that a tag team attack required you to use two different pokemon gx at once. Also, one more question: Where is the lost zone on the board?

The Lost Zone is located on the right hand side of the board above your deck.
