[GAME] Account Avatars Mixed Up

A brand new bug appeared with this morning's update (v 2.63), one that I've never seen before.

 

We share devices in my family.  As of this morning, only my Avatar appears when playing a game.  I think it's funny, and am glad it chose mine as the default, but my son and another family member don't think so much of it.

 

It happens on both our iPad and PC, in all game areas, including the Trainer Challenge.  On her account and my son's, the Avatar Creator shows them properly, but it always shows ME when they're playing a game.

Okay, I played around with it a little bit, and here's all I can add so far.

 

I thought I could fix it by modifying the Avatar on her account.  And when she played a game, it seemed to work.  BUT, it didn't.  When I went to play on my own account, her Avatar was the default for my games.  It seems that if more than one person shares a device, whichever Avatar was modified last is the default for everyone else's games (on VS Ladder, Trainer Challenge, etc.).

 

I tried, as you suggested, to see what happens during a Friend Match, to see what your opponent does.  From my PC, after she accepted the game request, it showed my Avatar (properly) versus her Avatar (properly).  But from her end, on the iPad, it showed ME vs. ME.

 

P.S.  Did you guys (Mods) realize that you're all missing the Moderator icon in the forums?  There's a black box under your names that shows a missing graphic.

As for the moderator icon, it looks to be working on my end. It displays "Moderator" in green text under my name. I'll try to view it on a non moderator account and see if I notice any differences.

On my PC (Win7 Ultimate), with Internet Explorer, it shows a black box (with an X in it) UNDER the "Moderator" text.  Using Chrome, it doesn't appear.  When using the iPad with Safari, it shows a blank white box under the Moderator text.

On day two of this latest update, we've noticed the problem is still happening.  My earlier idea, about it being related to the "last edited Avatar" was premature.

 

If you close the PTCGO app entirely, the correct Avatar appears for each player's games.  If, on the other hand, you just log out, the next player will have the Avatar of the previous player.  Whoever logs in first will be the Avatar for other family members' battles.  As a workaround, you can't just switch users, but have to close the game.

Hi Mod_GuruLot,

 

This is a valid, and easy-to-find bug.  I guess it's my fault for not listing the steps to reproduce it, but it can't be "working fine on your end."  It's broken, period, and I hope is recognized as such.

 

And sorry, I won't be submitting a Support Ticket.  If TPCi chooses to ignore known bugs after they're reported in the Forum, that's totally on them.  It's their game, and I've done my duty as a player.  Shouldn't that be sufficient?

 

I'm not trying to be a hard case.  But, if a bug affects everyone, the best place to "report it" is in the Forums.  That makes everyone aware, and other players won't be wondering if they're the only ones affected.  Public accountability is good for them and us.  I do, and will use a Support Ticket if it's an individual issue.

 

EDIT:  This has already been added to the v2.63 Known Issues list.  Thank you Mike.  You're the best!  ...if only Ditto worked on people.

The problem:  For families and players that share devices, the wrong Avatar will appear during all games for the second and subsequent players (Trainer Challenge, VS Ladder, or Events).  This is known to happen on iPad and Windows, which are unrelated systems.

 

Steps to reproduce:

• Player A logs in, and plays a match/game.  His Avatar appears properly.
• Player A logs out (not closing the game, just logging out).
• Player B logs in, and plays a match/game.  The Avatar from Player A appears during all games.

 

Workaround:  Until this is fixed, you must close the game (completely) between players.
