So how many of you are new?

I've never paid attention to the little code cards in my pack until I read one of the cards one day and only then found out they had an online game, that leads me to believe it used to be more popular than it is now. So, how many of you are new players? I assume most of you have played a bit longer or have decided to revisit the game

The codes are how TPCi makes money in this game. TPCi won’t make a free game that is as big as PTCGO that doesn’t make money whatsoever. Maybe they do it for advertising, but I think the former.

A lot of people on here have been playing for a while. I’ve been playing for over 3 years now, but I bet many other people on here have been playing longer than me.

I realize this post is a "conversation starter," but I don't follow the logic.  Because you never noticed Code Cards (although obvious), or discovered there was an online game, you've concluded the game had to be more popular before?

The Pokemon TCG, in the real world, has been around for over 20 years now.  Anyone still in school (K-12) wasn't even born then.  Most players I've known go hardcore for a couple years, and quit, maybe for another game, but usually for real life issues.  Many have stuck around for years on end, taking breaks on occasion.  The TCG Online has been around for about 7 years now, I would imagine with its owns highs and lows.  I'm still a noob, but everyone's experience, whether Online or off is probably as unique as they are.

Im new to the game and really I was looking for other new players, I know its been around for many years and many years before I was born but looking into it more I didn't see it getting and recent publicity.

Have played around 3 months now,  so relatively new to the game.

Edit:and why am I getting downvoted for this? xD

I've only been playing since September of last year.  I never really bothered to download the TCGO until then, but I'm still very glad that I did!  (I started to collect the card since HS Undaunted... Oof.)

I'm not new, but I feel like "introducing" myself to those who are. ;) I've been playing via the PTCGO for about five years now, though if you want to get technical, that was when I returned to it, as I could almost never get the original PTCGO to work on my old computer.  If we include the physical cards, I go all the way back to the beginning, at least in North America (approximately January of 1999).  There are gaps in my time with the game, sometimes because I planned on quitting and other times just because "real life" got in the way.  I actually had quit back in 2014, but a newer computer and the redesign of the PTCGO meant I could finally reliably access it.

I'm not that new. I joined TCG online last year.

But I have been a Pokemon fan for more than 20 years.

Because there are unhappy trolls on this site who like to go around bullying people with downvotes apparently or have a personal vendetta against you. Honestly this whole downvote system is asinine and needs some revamping. You may not care for the reputation system like myself but there are people here trying to push out newbies from trying to have a voice in this community. 🙄

It is ironic.  This is a subject I've approached recently.  The very leaders (so-called) in these forums will bite your head off, and downvote you into oblivion.  They'll tell you what the "community viewpoint" is, and the historic consensus, or else.  I'm tired of seeing so many new players with red "negative" ratings.  They're defending these actions, with twisting logical fallacies, and say it's not bullying.  Not all of us see it that way.  Since you've only been a member for about a month, I'm glad to see you have the fortitude to keep speaking.

P.S.  +3 in the other thread, hoping to ease things just a bit (I'm out of today's upvotes).  Welcome.

As far I'm concerned, I'm new.

I've started a month and an half ago.

New players are easy to spot : they can't have a profile pic. ;)

Also, they often have a negative "reputation" because of trolls who dislike new players. ;)

Actually I know as I usually read through the forum but rarely speak out because I don't really care to voice out my opinions as often as others do. I appreciate what you are doing for the little people on these forums because some of them don't have a "wolf pack", as you called them elsewhere, to back them up. The only people that down-vote or "dislike" other peoples comments either have a lot of nothing to say or are simply unhappy themselves, so I won't feed into their negativity.

Also thank you but please dont waste your votes on me because I honestly don't care for the score system on this site. It simply feels like a means to validate people and I don't need any further validation as the only opinion I need for validation is my own. I'm not full of myself I promise but I don't think myself as lesser to anyone on this board regardless of the popularity contest that seems to be going on.

Many good thoughts (e.g. help, advice, feedback, suggestions) are, and have been shared in these forums.  New players can benefit greatly from being active here.

In all fairness, it's the Reputation System that's faulty, and needs adjustments, more than the members using it (with the tools provided to them).  After the recent forums software update, it's started to feel more like Reddit, or worse, which I don't think the developers foresaw, or intended.  In this Game Feedback section, my critique is aimed primarily at The Pokémon Company.  It's their responsibility.

P.S.  At a minimum, sunlight is a great disinfectant.

I've played off and on since 2013. Been playing Pokemon since '98. It's a fun game, but when you see what the TCG really is it's really depressing.
