Where's Waldo? (again)

Well over a year ago, there were a couple warning threads about an obvious scam that was running rampant in Public Offers.

One of the worst offenders from last year is at it again.  He's hiding a 2011 Tropical Beach among those common Gym Badges (the League promos).  There are normally 8 Gym Badges, but he's offering 7 of them, with the 8th being Tropical Beach.

He's offering a full-art Ultra Ball and a few other cards on his side of the trade, so it looks enticing.  Many players would automatically accept this "snipe" only to realize that he tricked them by hiding an expensive Tropical Beach on the other side.

Double-check trades if you see those Gym Badges.  I hope we don't hear more stories about innocent players making this mistake.  This guy shouldn't be allowed to walk among us.

Here's one of the threads from a year ago....

P.S.  I've reported his "Deceptive Offer."  Maybe others can too?

If he didn't get punished last time around, is there any chance he would get punished now? Checked trades where there were multiple supporters with beach in them for cynthia, but as it would seem 1.You see that there is promo in the trade (shouldn't that rise some questions?) and 2. The beach is the first card in the offer.

Why on earth does one have to rush trade without reading fine print? Either you would scam a player that hasn't knowledge of the trading by taking their cynthia or b you get scammed yourself by not checking in which you are putting your fingers in before it's too late.

I've never taken the bait, but I know a couple knowledgeable traders who have.  The offers you mention, with one obvious Promo (TB) mixed in with standard Trainers is easy enough to spot, which is why a warning usually isn't needed.  It's still intentionally done, with malice most times.  But the tricky one is the set of 8 promos (Gym Badges) where one is missing, replaced with the Tropical Beach.

It's always our responsibility to double-check trades before accepting them.  But it's also our duty to warn others of intended scams, eh?

It wasn't a "HE" last time, but multiple players.  It was a trend.  I'm going to keep reporting them, including the offers you mentioned.  If we take a stand, we can hope they get (or got) spanked, but our own vigilance is probably the best answer.

I see that another one of these intentional Deceptive Offers got put up in Public trading just 20 minutes ago (with Gym Badges, and a Cynthia on your side).  Which is worse?  ...doing it?  ...or having no shame?  Yes, it's been reported.

I will let you know after it has been taken down :)

I indeed have no shame in video games, be it  smurfing in LoL or this. I'm really curious what will happen during the following 8 hours

Edit:By the way, is there any forced rule on what is allowed to trade, what should trade look like etc. and where could I find these? Just curious.

^^  That much is certain.  We can see in Public Offers that you're continuing to post this dishonorable trade.

Points to ponder....

The better traders, who might already have Tropical Beaches (to lose), are aware of this creepy offer.  You're "a day late" to this hustle, and the only reason I posted this thread (a year later from the original) was for a refresher or reminder.

In Public Offers, these aren't digital minions (virtual) you're playing against, but real, feeling people.  Intentionally hurting or stealing from even one player is too many.  Who is that man in the mirror?

Even if you successfully trick someone, the value of that Tropical Beach will be nothing compared to the goodwill, help from others, and trades you're losing by being one of THOSE guys.

No, i think I was just in time as on friday night someone had taken the bait. And even if it won't happen again, I view this as same kind of excitement as buying lottery ticket, of course this not costing anything.

ps. Best of luck for you getting beach with your promos. I Will update this if it so happens that I get second beach.

Well, I need apparently take my words back and accept the fact even if I'm very stubborn in this. Today it just so happened that actions had been taken, and as result I'm unable to log in to my ingame account for 14-days.

That is not to say I'm completely agreeing  with how little information there is on staff part about what behaviour is acceptable and what can be consequence for such actions.

So, for traders out there:

1.Still always check the trades you are about to accept(especially if it's containing badges).

2. If you are moving on grey area and start to question yourself, are you making deceive offers, well,it is still better to turn the ship before you crash into unexpected suspension.

The best thing any of us can do personally is to inform as many players as possible.  It's good to see The Pokémon Company is making the distinction between bargain shopping and outright deception.  Thank you Staff.

Now, if enough of us report the guy this thread was started for, maybe he will be held accountable too.  ;)
