First post - silly question

Recommended Posts

First post, new(er) to the PTCGO and I've been messing around.  I played all the video games but my kids got some cards from their friends and I was like we are going to do this right, so I got them decks, myself a deck etc and then discovered the online codes, one thing led to another and now I'm here.

I'd love to build an Eeveelution deck and I've attempted to Gyarados deck for fun but am curious what is the strongest Eeveelution and what is a recomended build for it?

Also will try to get a decklist for my Gyarados deck I've been messing with and see what you guys think.

Sylveon GX is the best Eeveelution card we have, just putting it out there. Also, which Gyarados are you using?

Hey Tychell, about your eeveelution question, it depends what you want to do. The ones you start with are simply bench sitters that help you hit types for super effective that you would normally have a disadvantage against. Vaporeon was pretty popular when volcanion was standard. But the most competitive eeveelution title goes to Jolteon GX and for the build pikarom and zapdos decks normally run one line of jolteon gx. Or if you don't get what I was saying there, then just go and buy sun and moon boosters till you get the eevee with a pretty nice ability. Not gonna tell what it is cos that will ruin the surprise.

SKBellmore, ahh, the unfamiliar one.  I haven't played the last couple games either as life with five kids, a job and more has gotten me away.  Also other video games have taken all my gaming time... looking at picking up a switch and getting back into the VG side of it with Sword and Shield.  I always liked the Eeveelutions and Umbreon was probably my favorite, but haven't looked into the Umbreon cards yet.  early on it was usually Jolteon as I love me some lightning.

I was thinking about using the Eeveelution as my primary deck main, but if that isn't strong point then totally understandable.

Did I offend you? If so, I’m really sorry, I didn’t mean to. Also, what do you mean by the unfamiliar one?

Anyway, I kind of understand your situation, I don’t have much time to play myself, and I can be pretty busy at times.

To be honest, it helps too chose a certain card to build a deck around, not a Pokémon. TPCi has released the Pokémon TCG Card Dex. Maybe you could go install it and look at some existing cards. If you find one you like, you can post in this forum and many people (including me) would love to help you out. If you see an Eeveelution card you like, by all means.

The Umbreon from Lost Thunder is pretty good. Umbreon GX isn’t too bad itself if you like Umbreon.

EDIT: Just saw your post. I’ll help with your list later.

Hi Tychell,

Welcome to the forum! I'm not sure what the best Eeveelution is at the moment but hopefully we'll get some awesome tips from all the trainers posting. So far it looks like some great advice!

Oh no, not offended....man I get that a lot .... I must write really aggressive I apologize. I was by no means offended and I'm sorry thats how I came off.  I'm fairly familiar with the Poke-verse up until Black 2 and White 2.  I sold my DS at that point to by a 3ds and was never able to seem to get one.  I do have a switch coming so will try to do some stuff and start up with Sword and Shield.

I never used Sylveon, thats what I meant by the unfamilar one.  I haven't used but played the games with Glacion and Leafeon but not Sylveon.  I like alot of the older "classic" pokemon and would love to build a deck around one.  Eevee I thought my have alot of options due to its flexibility, so was wondering if there was a certain build around a certain Eeveelution that was extra good.  Tried to do a little searching but everything just had them as the backups, but I guess that makes sense now.

Yeah please look at the Gyarados deck list and let me know what you thinkSKBellmore.  And thanks Turtle!!!

I’m sorry. Last time I had a fight on these forums I felt I didn’t handle it the right way. (See Alolan Ninetales GX Trade. Some of the posts are edited out by Mod_RedDragon though.) Send me a FR in-game. I can give you some extra stuff if you need it.

Anyway, Gyarados GX is good only if you have good energy acceleration. Water has Aqua Patch, but that’s really it. I think maybe cut that line and focus more on Koko GX. You could pair it with LOt Naganadel to burst out of no where and do 130 damage. Articuno GX is pretty similar so you could use that also. I have a pretty solid list on my retired thread called SKBellmore’s Deck Thread. You can go check it out if you like. Also, you could use Jolteon GX with the deck! Also, that is a very well built trainer line for a new player as you call yourself. Most competitive decks use about 12 or less energy. Adjust your deck accordingly if you feel the need.

You inspired me to build a deck with Umbreon, so I did. I’m still working with it but I’ll post it when I feel it’s solid.

Thanks for reading. I hope I helped.

HMMM, ok.  I"ll take a look at that.  SO how do you accelerate Gyarados?  I thought with the DCE and the Enter the Dragon it might accelerate him.  I've always liked Gyarados in the VGs so wanted to use him but grabbed Tapu Koko because I'd seen some stuff.  Yeah I'd love to see your Umbreon deck!!!

Also I'll try to look at your retired thread.  THanks.

Water types don’t really have great energy acceleration. Even with DCE, you have to use 3 energy attachments, which honestly isn’t ideal at all. Tapu Koko is a way better build and if you want Eeveelutions, you can put Jolteon GX in it.

Interesting... I'll keep playing with this deck but I'll definitely start a Tapu Koko GX deck.

Oh, and you commented on my supporters, its because I "Cheated" and looked into several peoples "deck kit" lists with their primary and secondary supporters and then tweaked those a bit.  I've been lurking in the forums for about a month now since I bought myself and the kids their decks.  I kinda want to start over cause I picked up the old XY Evolutions Mewtwo deck cause I always liked Mewtwo as well, and then started thinking about it more .... and now I've bought tons of pakcs, couple of boxes, and I've spent more then I was planning on.  HAHAHA.  Its been nice though since I've gotten all the online packs has allowed me to download the cards, trade them, build, etc.

It’s not cheating btw.

Tapu Koko should be a good build. If you’re buying codes, there is a Tapu Koko code you can buy, there are cheap retailers online that sell codes. Although, I can’t post them here because It will most likely be edited out by a moderator.

I dislike more the practice of not making deck lists open for all to see. All the best decks in the world (arguably) are available on this site, if you can just find the link to them in that navigational nightmare, but people are allowed to hide their own decks from those they've played against in PTCGO.

I agree. When I was new, those deck lists I faced against helped me realize what cards were good that I should get. I always leave my deck lists open. I’d be using things like Shauna and Bianca if it weren’t for the function.

EDIT: I actually don’t think I would be using those. I think after over 3 years I would’ve realized there were better cards.

Shoot, I don’t even know how to do that!!! I did mess with a Tapu Koko GX deck and won both my games, I’ll post it later.

I meant I’ve been buying me and my kids the paper card packs but they come with the online codes. I’ll have to look for the online code stores though!

Also Jolteon GX is EXPENSIVE in the trading ring.

I makes sense for the people who design anti-meta rogue decks, so that their ideas don't get popularized and teched against before they can go to a tournament with them. But then again, I'll point out most of the true masters of rogue ***. Ross Cawthon) don't even play the TCGO to prevent deck discovery. I'm always a bit disappointed when I see that a decklist is protected. "Wow, that was cool deck. Don't usually lose to things like that. I wonder what all they were running- oh. Oh. That's sad. Oh well. I can built something else. :( "

If anyone I play wants my crazy tier 3.5 deck ideas, they've got nothing to worry about. :P

I (barely) played against en Eeveelutions deck and I remembered this post.

Opponent used Viridian forest his 1st turn to get psy energy to evolve into Espeon GX to use weakness to KO my active Inkay. I countered with GengaKyu attack useing also Weakness over Espeon and he concede, so I cant know how well the deck works.

The intention is to use weakness whatever you find in front. Can be improved and in Expanded there's a lot more possibilities. Either way, it was Standard and deck was this:

##Pokémon - 14
* 4 Eevee SUM 101
* 1 Sylveon-GX GRI 92
* 1 Buzzwole FLI 77
* 1 Slugma CES 23
* 1 Magcargo CES 24
* 1 Leafeon-GX PR-SM 146
* 1 Jolteon-GX PR-SM 173
* 2 Tapu Lele-GX GRI 60
* 1 Espeon-GX SUM 61
* 1 Glaceon-GX PR-SM 147

##Trainer Cards - 35
* 1 Gladion CIN 95

* 2 Professor Kukui SUM 128
* 1 Lillie UPR 125
* 1 Volkner UPR 135

* 2 Guzma BUS 115

* 2 Cynthia UPR 119

* 2 Erika’s Hospitality TEU 140

* 1 Steven’s Resolve CES 145

* 1 Beast Ring FLI 102
* 1 Rescue Stretcher GRI 130
* 1 Pal Pad UPR 132
* 4 Pokémon Communication TEU 152
* 1 Multi Switch GRI 129
* 1 Choice Band GRI 121
* 1 Judge BKT 143
* 1 Switch SLG 67
* 2 Nest Ball SUM 123
* 2 Field Blower GRI 125
* 2 Ultra Ball SUM 135

* 1 Energy Retrieval SUM 116
* 1 Switch CES 147

* 1 Choice Helmet LOT 169

* 3 Viridian Forest TEU 156

##Energy - 11

* 4 Double Colorless Energy NXD 92

* 2 Fighting Energy  6
* 1 Lightning Energy  4
* 1 Grass Energy  1
* 1 Water Energy  12
* 1 Psychic Energy  5
* 1 Fairy Energy  18

Total Cards - 60

I can't remember the name of opponent to give credits.

Hope it gives you good ideas if you want to start from this list.

Is this your  honest opinion, or are you copying something I previously said.

And what is the problem with that? Are we here for egos, or to help players? Which one are you here for?

edit:sorry for asking, i guess the answer is obvious. My bad.
