Why this price?

Hi

I see some cards in trades I don't understand why are so expensive. I don't know all the decks of the game or all the meta decks so if you can tell me I learn why

 

- Jolteon-GX, this is promo and not lot people have the card because need to buy real life box. I know is in zapdos and PikachuZekrom decks and electric decks but I don't see why is the card very good. For me attacks not very good. Why is included in decks?

 

- Flareon-GX another promo. Is for the Blacephalon deck? There is no other good fire deck, or is it? Or is this for Expanded?

 

- Fiery Flint Secret Rare. This is very expensive but I don't know any deck use it.

 

 

I know also some cards never were very expensive or they not anymore and they're good cards like Golisopod-GX won an Expanded big tournament not so long ago (with Zoroark-GX) and Lycanrock-GX the one with ability at evolving makes like a Lysandre. Always was cheap haha

 

If I can remember more cards I don't know why expensive or where they played I'll add it. Grazie.

Jolteon has quite a few things that actually make it really, really good:

1:It's eevee evolution so getting it on board requires only it being in deck, getting eevee on board and attaching one energy on eevee. That is easily doable on turn 1.

2:It's stage 1 Gx and as such has quite a nice pool of 200hp. This means that for instance zapdos has to hit it twice and have choice band or electrower or kukui on both times, not to mention that jolteon can 1-ko zapdos with head bolt.

3:It has 0 retreat cost and is stage 1 so absol won't work on it.

4:2 energies for 110 dmg is really solid, not to mention coupled with combination of two of electropower and/or choice band can rocket it to 170(enough to ko tapu lele-gx) or combination of 3 to 200(eneough to ko most used non-tag-team-gxes.

5:Swift run GX is really good. It eneables you to potentially have 1 turn extra with jolteon which can really annoy especially zapdos,lost march players(especially if you acerola turn after). Ofcourse,it's countered by guzma or especially with combination of escape rope and guzma, but non the less it's really solid.

 

Flareon:

1.Eeevee evolution, same perks as with jolteon.

2. What I have seen it used for mostly is it's gx move, that in likes of charizard decks can work as finisher(much in the same way as tapu koko-gx). This is made extremely potent by the fact that the said gx attack costs only one energy, meaning that only thing you need is in fact for flareon to be in your decks, you having eevee and you attaching fire energy on it.

 

As you mentioned they are promos , which is big reason for them having (comparably) high prices.

 

I would think SR Fiery flint is expensive because a)It's from dragon majesty and b)There is hype surrounding next expansion(Lots of new support for fire decks, Charizard & Reshiram tag team etc.).

The Secret Rare is pricey just because it is so rare.

 

The Flareon GX has a combination of attacks that people want, cycling energy from your hand to your pokemon to your discard pile, where other cards, like the new Charizard, can then use them.

I think the reason why Jolteon-GX and Flareon-GX are expensive is since both of these cards only come as promos that you have to buy physically. Also although Jolteon-GX and Flareon-GX are not the best cards currently, they are both still pretty good in general since you can combo them with Eevee. Lastly since both of these cards are new they can be used in standard and expanded decks.

 

The reason Fiery Flint (Secret) is expensive could be due that the card can be considered somewhat rare, since Dragon Majesty booster packs can not be bought in the online store of the PTCGO. Which lead to fewer copies of the card being available for trade.

 

Although Golisopod-GX and Lycanrock-GX are both good cards and are ran in popular decks, both cards can be obtained through online booster packs and there are multiple versions of these cards which make it easier for these cards to be obtained by players.
