Question about old cards?

I'm jumping back in the game after a 10+ year hiatus. I have a lot of older cards and was wondering what the specific legality on them are. I asked on reddit and got mixed answers.

In regards to "Standard" if I have a trainer card such as Moo-Moo Milk from a long time ago that has been reprinted with different rules, is it:

  • legal, but I have to follow the reprint card's rules OR
  • illegal since the cards are functionally different

Thanks!

Whoops... Wrong section... I'm not sure how to move this to the right part of the forum. I was talking about the physical game rather than the online game.

Welcome back! Older versions of cards are allowed for usage, but they will have the same effect as the newest reprint. If you're talking about the paper version, then bringing a copy of the newest version for reference would be wise.

With cards like Moomoo Milk, where the only difference is the number on the effect, you simply follow the new card's text.  Many cards, of course, have been perfectly reprinted, and are legal as well.  No pokemon reprinted outside of the original era are legal, even if almost identical.

Welcome back!
