New player looking for new decks

Hi Everyone.

I recently picked this up and have been enjoying it.  I have most of the theme decks and have been using that in vs.   I've also built the Garchomp deck for standard using the 2 of the dragon theme deck.

But it's pretty inconsistent considering what exists in the meta so I was looking for some new ideas.

Also if anyone has any spare codes laying around that they wouldn't mind parting with it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Would you mind sharing your list?

Garchomp is a atm the best deck for beginners, given how easy you can build it and how straight forward the upgrades are.

Since you normally shouldn't be paired against tier 1 meta decks at your given stage, I'm intrigued why you feel that the deck is inconsistent.

So maybe I misspoke in saying inconsistent or maybe I just had a string of bad matches that tipped my numbers but decks like lost March were popping up a lot and giving me trouble

The single most important thing in consistency is supporters.  Four cynthia is a great start, but you need more than that- and stronger ones on average than you have right now.  I would say add another lillie, cut sophocles and two hau, replace fan club with Elm's Lecture, and add a total of four between Tate & Liza, Erika's Hospitality, and Sightseer.

You also probably don't need quite so many fighting energy; your attacks are fairly low-cost.

As I mentioned earlier, the good thing about Garchomp is that you can easily upgrade it step by step, while also picking up essential cards for your collection.

The first thing oyu should be looking for is Rare Candy, in order to speed up your Garchomps. Ideally you want to start attacking with them as early as turn 2..

The next thing you should consider is trimming down Pokemon and Energy cards.

With Rare Candy you are safe to play a 4-2-4 line of Garchomp.

I'd also decrease the Lucario line to a 2-2 and cut down on the energy.

The next step is to take care of your supporters.

Elm's Lecture is a great supporter for the first round, just be mindful that you can't grab Riolu with it. Still, being able to pick up Gible and Vulpix is too good to pass.

Guzma is another great card that can help you snipe already damaged Pokemon.

After that you could twerk your trainer cards a bit. Look for Choice Band to boost your damage, try out Brooklet Hill to search for you Basics (and to counter opposing Stadiums) and lay around with nice utility cards like Rescue Stretcher and Field Blower.

Eventually you could even consider adding Alolan Ninetales GX as a replacement of the Lucario line.

Take it step by step and once you are finished you'll have a solid fountain to build new decks.

I'd always advise beginners to stick to one deck, until they got said foundation. If you start building one deck after the other, eventually all of them will only be mediocre, as you invest into new Pokemon, rather then building up the core of every deck (your trainer cards).

This is the final list I'd probably try to arrive at (you can skip the Ninetales GX, though it's a card that will help you in a lot of other decks as well).

That's a good question :D. I guess I was to focused on getting a consistent Garchomp on turn 2 and forgot that Lucario is a great tool to find Cynthia for the added damage.

I guess you could go for a 2-1 Lucario line (or 1-1 with 1 Dito Prism Star, since he can be fetched by Elm) and trim down to 1 Ninetales GX. In that case I'd probably opt for Pokemon Communication as well, in order to manage all the different evolution lines and probably drop the Oranguru.

You could then even consider adding one Lucario GX for a surprise 120 out of the blue.

Either way, It's safe to say that the list I threw together in 5 minutes isn't the be best :D.

I still behind my point though: improve the deck step by step you'll be better off than investing into new decks.
