Movie Rumor: Live Pokemon Red and Blue Movie

Hey everyone, came upon a rumor that might catch the attention of a lot of people, especially the old fans.  And until proven otherwise, this is just a rumor, so don't quote me.  Anyway, Legendary Studios, the one that is about to bring Detective Pikachu into theaters, is supposedly in the process of making Live Pokemon movies based off of the games, starting with Red and Blue, the original two.  Would anybody be interested in seeing a movie like this, or not really?

 

As for me, well, to be truthful, I wouldn't feel too sure about it.  20 years ago, even if it was animated, I would have been psyched, but now, not really.  The reason why, well, to be honest, Red and Blue is too much of a blank slate, since compared to the other games, it didn't really have much to offer, not even a story.  It was too straightforward, with the key objectives of catching, and raising, pokemon, collect the badges, win the league, and along the way, take out Team Rocket.  With the movie, it would feel like, either a longer version of Origins, or mainly, filling in a bunch of gaps that were left open by the games.

My first reaction is, "Why?"  It's just not something I've ever thought needed a live action version.  Although I do have to disagree with you on the story part- the blankness of its slate allows much greater freedom, which, if used properly, could result in a solid story line.  That's what they did for Pokemon Adventures, and I suppose it could work for a movie, too.

Or hurt the movie, depending on what gets added, and what gets skipped.  In some ways, even if they are starting from scratch when it comes to Red and Blue, right now the one thing they can do is make the live version of Red fully aware of what he is doing, while at the same time, showing him grow with his pokemon, making him a bit different from Red Origins.

Hello trainers, I would watch it for nostalgic reasons as red and blue were and are my favorite games. I do agree with most of you that it could be too late for a movie.

It's never too late! We already have two AU Ash/Satoshi movies, a live action Pokemon movie...

If we were to get a liv action movie based off of the games I would like to see black and white or platinum, as I feel they would be much more interesting.
