updates attempt to install but cannot open

trying to start game and while checking for updates prompts an update window to appear and start installing. once complete the game starts up and gets to the "checking for updates" part then initiates the load window again for updates. this happens over and over again and I cannot get to the login page.

Yup mine is asking for an update then it says your device isnt compatible. But yet I been using it just fine on my galaxy note 9 for 3 months now..I'm really disappointed if any one has answers please help.

I had a similar issue. All I did to fix it was download the installer and re-install though. There's no need to uninstall the game first. While having the game installed already, download a fresh installer (www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-tcg/play-online/download/), and run the installer.

 

If that doesn't do the trick then I don't know. It's what worked for me, at least.

Bro same happened to me I have a Samsung note 9 too and I wanted to play today and it says update needed then it says your device is incompatible a I'm confused this is a new phone how is it incompatible help please I finally got so many decks to use

The Pokémon TCG Online is currently available for Android Tablet devices, as well as iPad and desktop PC and Macs. The game was originally designed for a robust (wifi or wired) data connection and has not been optimized for use over a limited cellular connection that players on a smartphone would expect. There are also user interface considerations that could be optimized for smaller smartphone screens. For these reasons, any device that Google Play considers a “phone” is not currently enabled to download the game. 

 

Minimum requirements:

Android Tablet

Space Required: Up to 6 GB

Android OS Revision: 4.0 or higher

 

Most Android tablets are supported. Due to the large number of Android devices, we cannot guarantee compatibility with any specific device. Kindle Fire tablets are not natively supported through the Google Play store. The game may run on Kindle Fire tablets, but this has not been tested.

 

Customer Support does not know if the development team has plans to release a TCGO client for Android phones. We will certainly pass your feedback along to the development team for further review.
