Waterfun: How to sustain the first 5 rounds?

Hey guys

So I have been playing this game for a month now, and I have chosen my first deck to be a waterdeck.

I am currently playing with the following deck (see below) and finally made it to the finals of a tournament. Gyarados, I use for damage, Ninetales for GX pokemon and Glaceon for something in between. The abilities of Manaphy and Blastoise (+ damage) play as a support.

I think i win almost 8/10 when we are playing after the 7th round, but mostly when I lose, I lose in the first five. Mainly due to the fact I cannot evolve quickly enough and his active pokemon just keeps knocking out my basic pokemons.

So the question is how I can sustain for the first few rounds? What would you change?

im going to assume you dont have pokemons like lele gx/shaymin ex/jirachi ex. in expanded these are some super good cards to have in decks to help draw support or get draw supporters.

if you dont own these id suggest running at least 9-12 draw supporters (ie  cynthia/sycamore/ n)

basically all expanded decks should run 3-4 vs seeker as well.

if you arnt running battle compressors you should have at least 3 ultra balls to help discard water energies from hand so you can use the aqua patches.

just by looking at your trainers, you arnt setup for using Archies, but if you learn how to use Archies, you can easily set up a blastoise on your first turn and basically load up energies.

Welcome to the Putsgof! :)

I think part of the reason you have bad starts is that you don't have much in the way of basic attackers.  You might try RoS Articuno 17 or Lapras GX.  They can buy you time while you find your evolution cards.  While you're at it, it might be good to remove an evolution line.  Right now you have four, and that can really slow a deck down- whichever one you think you can do best without, you're probably best off without.  Personally, I'd say Glaceon.

Your energy looks pretty solid. :)

You've also got a pretty good lineup of trainers, but I think there's room for a lot more draw support.  I'd suggest getting two more cynthia, three Prof. Sycamore, and the vs. seeker, if you can.  To make room, we can cut professor's letter, lady, and that evolution line.

Also, just to say, it's usually better to have thicker evo lines than to have more- so you might consider dropping two and adding more copies of one of the others.

So indeed I have no such pokemon yet. But I have opened a trade for Archie. I had seen this card as well and was wondering the same thing. The same applies for VS seeker (only 1 yet) and Battle Compression (0)

Thanks! I have made the changes you recommended. I will let you know the results :)

What do ya know.  I spotted this trade in Public.  Now you have at least 1 Archie and 2 Compressors.  In the future, you'll probably have better luck in you look for the non-foil version of cards when making Public offers.   :D

I have 3 extra VS Seeker that I'll trade for any extra Pikachu that you have (Furious Fists one, maybe?).  If you send me a friend request, I'll accept, and then you can make a private offer.  The VS Seeker are tagged For Trade.
