want feedback on prism latios + alolan exeggutor deck

i made a deck around prism star latios's attack and i also put in alolan exeggutor bc i need a lot of different energies

i focused on the better stage 1 dragon types, ones that can deal more damage, also stage 2s would take up too much space to be worth it

do u know of any other cards i should replace any of these cards with?

plz only suggest standard cards bc i standardized this deck

also i dont have any stage 1 dragon gx cards

also main part of deck is prism star latios, exeggutor is more of a plan B i can use bc enough variety in energy types

can also use rainbow energy to raise attack power of shelgon to 80

hakamoo has an 80 power attack too

First of all, you should NEVER EVER make a prism star pokemon your main attacker. You can only have 1 Latios, and he's gone forever when he dies. Your Hakamo and Shelgons are useless without their stage 2s. You don't build a deck around 1 single copy of 1 single pokemon. This game doesn't work that way.

What you SHOULD do, is to build a dragon deck with evos, THEN tech in Latios prism star as a backup one-prize, one shot attacker. So max out your Alolan Exegutors, cut out the useless Bagon and Jangmo'o line, use the proper trainer engine (someone please help here cuz typing on mobile is tedious), then go wreck some stuff.

So the trainers part would be what is usually called staple.

There are some (good) trainers that can work in almost any deck, no matter the pokémon included.

Latest tendencies in Standard would make it look like:

4 Cynthia

3 Lillie

4 Ultra ball

3 Guzma

1-2 Field blower

1-2 Rescue stretcher

2-3 Choice band (or other helping tool like F Fury belt)

2-3 Stadiums

Rest it's more likely to change depending the strategy of the deck but usually you'll see:

P. Elm's lecture (bench basics up to 60HP)

Nest ball (bench +60HP basics)

Timer ball (try to get evos. Flip coin tho)

Rare candy (To jump over middle stages and accelerate the deck)

Friend ball (most of the time to get a Lele-GX)

P Kukui (to achieve 1HKO)

Switch and/or Escape rope

Acerola

Tate & Liza

Escape board (on decks with a lot of 1 energy retreat cost)

Acrobike (to accelerate+thin the deck, usually in decks that benefit from recovering (mainly) energies from discard) Sightseer too

Max potion (to heal in low cost of attack decks)

Enhanced hammer (to slow down opponent a bit)

Judge (disruption for decks with abilities to draw (Zoroark GX))

Pal pad (to recover supporters, specially if the strategy is based on it (e.g. Garchomp)

Weakness policy

...

List never ends but almost any Hit-to-win deck (no stalling and so) can work with the Staple trainers.

Then you have the Type focused trainers like could be:

Mysterious treasure for Psy

Beast ring and Beast ball for Ultra beast's decks.

Kiawe for Fire

Mina and Diantha for Fairy

Zinnia for Dragon

...

Last but not least the Prism star cards (Pokémon, Trainers and Energies) use to be type focused too so if there's a good one for you, use it.

And don't forget the Stadiums.

You already have some of them but, same as pokémon, you never add 1-off of the staples as moving your deck helps you get the right thing in right moment. Big drawers mainly, with some excellent techs in addition.

No one uses Potion and you'll hardly see Sophocles or Lady in competitive decks.

As for Evo lines, 4-1-4 or 4-2-4, or 3-1-3 with Rare candies is the most used to play the Stage 2 decks getting consistency enough.

Your deck still needs a little twist in pokémon but apart from that, almost any deck, even a casual one, can be played with the right trainers.

  • 2 weeks later...

If you don’t have enough cards, play through Trainer Challenge and then grind the VS Ladder and tournaments with theme decks. If you try having dinner on a table that’s missing a leg, it will fall over. Same for deck building; you’re just giving players like me free and easy wins by playing an incomplete deck.
