Is Pokemon Duel Worth Getting Into Now This Late?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

I mostly play Pokemon TCG Online, but have been enjoying some of the other Pokemon games as well.

One that has peaked my interest is Pokemon Duel.

If I decided to play this, I have a few questions to ask:

- Is the community still active with lots of players?

- Would I be at a huge disadvantage joining now? Such as: are there limited time pieces people have acquired that I simply just won't be able to contend with, etc., etc.

- If I do start, what's the best way a beginner of the game can tackle it to maximize their potential? Feel free to list Tips & Tricks, Popular YT'ers that might have great guides, etc.

- Any other helpful comments are appreciated!

Thanks!

I would really like to know those you asked as well, because when the game launched few months ago, i was doing really well until my phone decided to brick and i forgot to back up my data...

An amateur mistake from my part, but does TPCI really have to maintain the device-bound-tactic for the users' saves?

Oh wow! There isn't an official server that stores user info. like PTCGO?

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but they are doing that thing where the game gives you a user ID serial number which you can use transfer your save between devices but once the save is transferred, you can't user the previous device can't device as a host (Pokemon Quest i'm looking at you) so if i'm not terribly mistaken same thing applies for Pokemon Duel...

Unfortunately their save-backing-up policy isn't the same as PTCGO or Pokemon Go...

And that was the main reason i stopped Pokemon Duel in the first place, but i'm really looking forward into giving it one last try.

Yes! I definitively recommend playing it! I don’t play it for the moment anymore (was there during global launch: they basically handed you a free EX every day, so progressing was hyperspace fast).

It’s like a digital board game, but you need to bear a lot of aspects in your mind: in the Pokemon Duel world, there are no such things as weaknesses, your Pokemons won’t listen to you and most importantly, that Bidoof can take out your max level Articuno. Pokemon Duel relies HEAVILY on chances and luck: the part where you get to decide is what to chance, choose the better odds. Coreillians probably won’t like this game, as they have no tolerance for odds. But back to topic, each battle that you engage is like spinning a casino wheel, Russian roulette style. Good thing is, you don’t actually die if you lose. Bad thing is, sometimes, there can be moments that are pretty irritating, such as these moments where your odds of success is 98%, and RNG just happens to choose that 2%. Pretty rare moments.

Usually you’re supposed to have an ID that was preset, and you get to set up a passcode for it so that if disaster strikes (Alderaan didn’t have any backup ID, unfortunately), you can enter the ID and the code and you’ll get your old account back.

EDIT: It works on any device, provided that it’s the same platform or compatible, and I got my old things back after deleting the app and reinstalling it. Just tested.

I'll give it shot. Thanks for the reply. :)

I've been getting back into Pokemon GO lately as well since the weather is nicer, and my girlfriend got her phone storage upgraded so she can come along with me to play as well. Getting ready for the Let's GO games later this year.

I quit Pokemon Go due to the toxicity within the groups of my area (fighting over gym domination) so Pokemon Quest is my sidekick to the PTCGO but i wouldn't say no to Pokemon Duel if i see that it's worth the time.
