If your talking about the game out officially out of beta, sometime this fall. This general date was announced at PAX 2011 and ofcourse since thats such a far way off it can change (earlier I presume, seems to be at a pretty solid stage atm)

Since the new Black & White theme decks come with an online code to activate the deck online, I believe that the game will be reset again when it launches, which won't be until after April 5th (April 6th is the release of the theme decks).

It will be up when it's ready.

This truly is the best way to put it.

I want to make sure that we avoid speculation as much as possible here on the forums. It is not that I want to crush the fun because it's very much like shaking a Christmas present trying to guess what's inside on Christmas Eve without being able to open it yet. I don't want speculation to become so popular or rampant that missinformation becomes frequent and someone's hopes get built up though, only to be broken down.

To avoid this, I assure you that we will announce upcoming features etc. as soon as it is time to do so. But if you want to be the FIRST to know, the following page is the best place to keep up to date on information regarding upcoming feature releases for the TCGO:

Keep on training hard everyone, before you know it you'll be battling each other's battle hardened skills! <img src="http://www.pokemontcg.com/javascripts/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/png/cool_smile.png" alt="" />

It's nice to play the game online, but I'd also like to be able to earn tokens (similar to the stamps earned at a Pokemon League) and have them be permanent. With the frequent data-wipes associated with Beta version games, I think the operative question is when will it be out of Beta so we can play and get a reward at the same time.

Pokemon.com and it's affiliate websites (like this one) have a tough uphill climb ahead because other webmasters have been making Pokemon online games for years. Those games (and other online games targeted at the same audience) are going to invariably be the example against which this site is measured. On those games, the effort spent by players is rewarded with points or virtual currency. Furthermore, those sites didn't have the luxury of a lengthy post-release Beta. Who'd buy Webkinz plushies if the Webkinz website was still in Beta and wiping their data as they played? Even Bella Sara didn't have their new online game in Beta after the release of cards with codes for the online game (and they, too, use the ever bug-ridden and always server-intensive Flash, instead of something more stable and economical like PHP or AJAX).

In short, if Pokemon.com wants to compete with it's fan communities, they are going to have to step up their game. Releasing a real life product that advertises an online feature before that online feature is out of Beta may not be a good way to do it. Gamers don't like seeing data wipes (because the reward for their playing dissappears). This is a good start, but this game seems to be quite a while away from completion, and as more decks sell and more people show up wanting to play, the errors inheirant to a Beta-version game are going to escalate the angsty posts. Someone at Pokemon USA's headquarters should have started this project at least a few *months* earlier if they wanted an April 2011 release, but that's just my opinion.
