Have you ever played the AOR Gyarados Deck? It's a pretty fun deck in my opinion, with the potential for a lot of damage.. If you'd like an example deck list let me know.

No problem, I used to play this deck a lot when it was in standard rotation. Now that it's expanded, a few things may need to be tweaked for best results.

I'll give a quick rundown of the deck. The goal is to use Team Magma's Secret Base to get 3 Magikarp on the bench with 2 damage counters each.

Gyarados' Full Retaliation attack does a base damage of 30, plus 30 more damage for each damage counter on each of your Benched Magikarp, and only costs a single DCE. So in a perfect situation you could be ****************.

But wait, there's more. If you're facing an EX/GX, you can add another 30 damage with the use of Choice Band for a *******************.

And that's not all. AOR Gyarados allows you to attach not just one, but two Pokemon tools. Yup, you read that right. Attach another Choice Band, and you can deal as much as 270 damage to opposing EX/GX attackers.

Worried about getting your benched Magikarp sniped? Fear not. The Magikarp from Crimson Invasion has an ability that blocks any sort of damage while it's on the bench.

It really is a fun deck to play with, and it's one that takes some thought and planning. Once you get used to the strategy, it's a blast!

Hopefully my explanations make sense. Give it a try and let me know what you think! Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Trainers,

Looks like the forum filter over-zealously censored some text. I have clarified below:

Gyarados' Full Retaliation attack does a base damage of 30, plus 30 more damage for each damage counter on each of your Benched Magikarp, and only costs a single DCE. So in a perfect situation you could be ****************.

210 damage

But wait, there's more. If you're facing an EX/GX, you can add another 30 damage with the use of Choice Band for *********************.

240 damage

I hope this helps!

Hello there!

I've been away from this world for the last half year, so my opinion isn't worth that much.

I used that Gyarados deck a lot in Expanded, rather than Greninja's. It's fun and reliable for the kinda deck it is, a somewhat cheap deck. It has some tricks to it, not hard to master, and can potentialy deliver a lot of damage and many OHKOs. Another cool Water deck for Expanded would be Seismitoad-Ex (?), although we're not talking water damage here, rather disruption. Gyarados AT was my choice Water deck for Expanded.

Never had a reliable Grass deck, but I would say Vespiquen is a good option (?). Mega Sceptile is somewhat cool in Expanded in my opinion, but you don't see it many times, even less with FoGP gone. Not that much damage output and HP, but a good healing capacity.

What other good Grass attackers are there? We can easily build something around one of those.

Wait! How could I forget the best Water deck in the format, and one of my favorites...??!!

As I said, I haven't played for 6 months or so, but I don't believe the Expanded meta has changed enough to "nerf" this deck... The great...... The only...... Aaaarchie's Blastoise!!!

I don't know if you're on a budget, but if not, this is the deck you want. Most expensive cards include Tapu Lele-Gx, Computer Search, and I see Shaymin-Ex dropped a lot while I was gone. The rest are peanuts.

Fantastic energy acceleration mechanism with Blastoise and Superior Energy Retrieval, good attackers include Keldeo-Ex as the main, usualy Mewtwo-Ex from NXD which I replaced with Necrozma-Gx for it's Black Ray, making it easier to use Articuno AT and get prizes faster. Short supporter line with 2 Archie's, 2 Juniper, 1 N and 1 Guzma, as you want to have cards you can burn through and still be useful in order to use Archie's effect, like UB, VS, Acro Bike, Trainer's Mail and 2 Eggs of course.

This deck is everyone's best Water bet in Expanded.

Hope it helps.
