Pinsir's Roof Fling - Turn 2 GG

Pinsir's Roof Fling is pretty lame, turn 2 gg for not having anything on the bench. Maybe Roof Fling should have the stipulation that it cannot come to fruition if there are no other Pokemon available to come off the bench. The design is interesting, but, as in most card games, if an ability is too powerful or game-breaking, it can be more of an annoyance, and not worth the mechanic in the first place.

For them to go first, happen to draw Pinsir as their starter, attach 2 Energy, get a heads flip on turn 2, and you having no other Basics? ...Not to worry.  It will happen very rarely.

It's not exactly a "powerful" card.  I have yet to see it in any real-world tournament, which says volumes.

They have decent odds of going first (50%), double colorless makes it easier to get that two energy, and heads flip is also 50%. It does seem rare, but then odds are very finicky in games like these; just rolled 2 timer balls - 4 tails, with a previous game the opponent getting 5 heads in a row to lock me down with a stunner. I understand probability, but computers don't generate perfect probability, and it is often a 'simulated' probability which can get screwy.

EDIT: Yes it was only one game, so this is a bit of an overreaction, I just hate when games are left up to so much chance, without leaving a balance for strategy, but then there is the odd probability of computer generated randomness too.

There is a semi-decent chance of a Buzzvole GX getting loaded with 3 energies by turn 2, and a semi-rare chance of getting ready on turn 1, to obliterate your poor lone basic.

Bottom line is that unlucky moments do happen from time to time, computer algorithms can look weird and Pinsir is a horrible card that should never be played competitively.

If there ever was any card-game almost for half of it based on chance, it's pokemon. The coin flip instead of dice rolls that determine so often the amount of damage done or the fate of a trainer card, I guess that's just part of the soul of the game. There are plenty of other games who don't have that though :P
