what's the best theme deck?

What's the best theme deck for may 2018? I wanna get my first one and have no idea which to pick. I'm currently using a Ho-Oh gx deck

Why is Mach strike better than wave slash?

Mainly because of the Garchomp’s Synergy with Lucario, it’s 0 retreat cost and it’s potential firepower. It can deal 200 damage with Royal Blades if you used Cynthia, which can be easily done with Lucario’s Precognitive Aura ability.

Tropical takedown and Twilight rogue still have to be tested (in my case) but someone could give some more info for sure.

 

Ho-oh GX it's not indeed a Theme deck. You'll see you can't play Theme with that deck. Those tin decks are great because they have some GX and that gives extra power if you are able to  set it up, but are not considered Theme, and can only be played in Standard and Expanded, where will suffer against any custom competitive deck for sure.

 

I recommend to get all the Theme possible to enlarge the card base and then have more to choose when building custom decks.

 

Wave slasher is good if you want to build a Greninja BREAK custom decl. As theme is as inconsistent as a lot of other Theme and lacks the power of the new Theme last released by far.

Mach Strike is indeed a strong and easy to play theme deck for beginner players mainly because of Gabite (Accession) and Lucario (Precognition Aura). However, the problem with the deck is too many players used it and it  become too easy to predict the move going to made by the player.

 

You might probably win a lot in  Versus Mode but to get first prize in Tournament Mode, I recommend to use other deck like deck which are not commonly used and have a strong power.

I like playing Theme Deck tournaments.  It's a fun pastime, and I win more than my fair share.  Yet, I've never played Mach Strike there.  In fact, it's actually pretty rare to play against Mach Strike in the finals.

 

It might work well is the VS Ladder, where Mach Strike is rampant, but if you play Sylveon (Furious Fists) in Events, you'll be thoroughly disappointed if you come up against anything other than a Garchomp (with Weakness).  Against the other newest decks (SM-era), you'll get wrecked it you play Enchanted Echo in Events.

Didn't played so much with the newer Theme decks. Just testing Hydro Fury right now.

 

But still strongly feeling the best Theme are yet Mach Strike and Imperial Command just after that.
