Please allow iPads app to redeem codes in app

I realise the Android app allows players to scan QR code to redeem the code cards within the app but I don’t understand why this is not a feature available for iPad users. Hope you can consider setting this up.

The short answer is, "Apple won't allow it."

 

Behind that, they've never come to an agreement about Apple's commission.  The iTunes Store takes a big bite, up to 30% on all in-app purchases.  They're also very protective of the market, excluding others from selling items directly from an App when they don't get their share (e.g. Kindle books, etc.).  They had the feature in the iPad client for a while (greyed out), but apparently they couldn't come to terms about Code Cards being free items.

 

There is a code redemption page on the main site if you don't have any other means...

It's probably due to Apple's rules about in-app purchases or something similar. I don't have an iAnything, so I'm not familiar with the details of their limitations.

Thank you for the helpful responses! The option to redeem codes on iPad devices was removed at the requirement of Apple.

 

iPad users who wish to redeem codes into their account can do so via PC, Mac, or Android devices, or at https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-trainer-club/enter-codes.
