Petition: Remove Mega Evolution Mechanic / Rule

I get why Mega EX required the turn ends / spirit link mechanic at the time of their introduction, but GX cards have invalidated the balance that the rule was put in place to accomplish.

 

You can get the same damage output, HP, and arguably far better abilities without the complication and deck slots for a spirit link. With that on the other side from you it’s not possible to risk the turn to Mega Evolve and thus play EX as a rule..

 

As it has made Mega EX are pretty much unplayable. That makes an entire era worth of cards that would be really fun to mess around with relegated to the trash pile.

 

Would there be any harm in removing the Mega Evolution mechanic at this next rotation? I think it would bring a lot more variety to Expanded to be able to get the Mega EX on a level playing my field with the GX cards and make it materially different from standard rather than Standard plus staples and Night March.

Don't forget it's a business. Secondary purpose is to have a game, but main one is to get money, to make everyone collect, and trade, and keep getting new sets and buying new cards.

Yeah. I get that, but I really don’t think it canabalizes the new card market. I think it just makes things more playable overall and makes for better transitions for new players and that sort of thing. I mean they are offering random packs so people are piling up useless EX cards every day now.
