Versus ladder reward system needs work

The reward system for the versus ladder is great. However, it could be much better. 

 

Every two weeks we get a new ladder with a cool full art supporter, some packs, and some misc. cards. This is great but it only applies to a specific format. For players that never play expanded, seeing expanded packs and cards on the ladder doesn't entice them to play.

 

However, when the ladder corresponds with the format the player in engaged in, seeing cool rewards entices them to play. 

 

What i'm proposing is to create separate ladders for each format. This would do a few things. 

 

1) Ensure that players would get a useful reward every two weeks.

 

2) Provide something to do for players that complete the ladder quickly. 

 

Just a thought. Let me know what you think.

Well then, yes, I'd like the option of choosing from standard/expanded/legacy branches on the ladder. Not that I'd want to be able to do all three, but just to decide which I was on. Maybe if the option unlocked with level....

I think seperate ladder rewards is a bad idea. It already takes a huge investment of time and effort to reach the max reward in one, let alone three.

 

The idea is cool though; letting people pick from, say, three rewards would be great. For example, the pack reward could be plasma / guardians / triumphant or something. That way you can tailor your choices without increasing the requirements.

 

I personally fluctuate between formats when ladder climbing.

Baelnor, you do make a good point in bringing up how much of an additional investment it would take. I am not sure that I would personally have the patience.

I think you make a great point! I actually thought about that as well. However, right now it's either the ladder works for you or it doesn't. Sometimes I'll bust out the ladder in a week or less which leaves me with nothing to really gain from playing.

 

Just a thought. What if they implemented a ladder system similar to the challenges. You could select from a few options every two weeks that don't expire until completed or deleted? I think that would be an excellent system.

Instead of having to complete different versus ladders, have us to choose which versus ladder to complete.

Or just one ladder with 3 different choice prizes and when arriving to reward, choosing what format you want the prize. I see it easier than 3 different ladder though at the end would be the same.

 

So when first 2 trainer cards, an example from present ladder could be Float stone from BKT for standard and expanded, or Float stone from PLF for expanded and legacy and BKT at standard.

 

For the first 2 poke, 2 FCo Carbink Standard, 2 FLF or RoS Carbink Expanded and EmP Drillbur+Excadrill for expanded.

 

For the packs, ULP, FLF and EmP.

 

Same with GX/EX others (a Prime from time to time? ) and the FA trainer Brock and different for the other formats.

 

Could work 2 ways: When you choose 1st reward, all rewards have to be from that format .That would be like 3 different ladder but making only one. Or just one ladder with a pick from format choice every time you arrive to prize.

 

And the 3rd would be 3 different ladder that you can complete, only once you ended the previous, or all at the same time, grinding depending the format you played.

I wouldn't want to have three ladders that could all be completed separately, yeah. That would lead to a resurgence of genting, or something similar, for those who want all 3.

Neither I but, it's better to give them all options. We all know if something is done, it will be cut somewhere so, all options to they choose seems better than one canned idea. Although so open choices maybe make them just discard the mess and a canned thing if they think is great it's "easier" to do. Never know haha
