11,878 Different Cards to Own

Recommended Posts

RobRatt

An alternate-art League Promo Trainer -- Kiawe (BUS 116a, Yellow A) -- was added to the game today.  This Code Card also includes the Unbroken Bonds card sleeves.

As usual, the majority of these League Promos won't be easy to trade in Public Offers for another week or two.  These are usually distributed at Leagues (in the real world) the following weekend, or the next, after they appear in PTCGO.

What's upcoming??

In a few days, on July 5th, there's another promo box.  This Blastoise-GX Premium Collection will include FA Blastoise-GX, a foil Squirtle, a foil Wartortle, a jumbo Blastoise-GX card, a Blastoise pin, a Blastoise coin, and 6 booster packs.

The next major set, Unified Minds, will be released on Friday, August 2nd.  This set has over 230 cards, plus the Secret Rares.

Also on August 2nd is another promo box.  In addition to the figurine, this Reshiram & Charizard-GX Figure Collection includes an alternate-art Tag Team card, a jumbo version of the card, and 4 booster packs.

And then, on August 23rd, there's another promo-only set being released.  Hidden Fates will be a big set, with over 150 cards (plus any Secret Rares or Promos).  There are 68 new cards, but the majority of cards in this set will be alternate-art versions of existing cards.  This "Shiny Versions" subset (94 of them) will be numbered SV, along with the Yellow A symbol.

The first promo boxes for Hidden Fates will be Pin Collection boxes that feature Mew and Mewtwo (released on August 23rd).  Each box will include a Pin (Mew or Mewtwo), a promo card, and 3 booster packs.  The Elite Trainer Box for this set is scheduled for release on September 20th.

On August 2nd, with the release of Unified Minds, 458 new cards were added to the game, which brings the new total to 11,630.

This latest set, Unified Minds, is huge.  It's hard to believe that sets are getting this big.  It brought 458 new cards, including the regular release, reverse foils, end-of-set (SR/RR), and theme deck exclusive.  Of these, 387 are Pokémon, 65 are Trainers, and 6 Special Energy.

Of the 458 cards in Unified Minds, four are exclusive versions (foil/non-foil) to either Theme Decks or Prerelease Boxes (Build & Battle Boxes).

Dragonite, UNM 15 (Foil, theme deck exclusive)
Froslass, UNM 38 (Non-Foil, prerelease box)

Necrozma, UNM 101 (Foil, theme deck exclusive)
Silvally, UNM 184 (Non-Foil, prerelease box)

Okay, we should be caught up now.

During the first 3 weeks of August 2019, there have been 29 new promos or alternate versions added to the game.

Prerelease:  There are 4 Prerelease Promos (SM Black Star) for Unified Minds (Build & Battle Boxes)...

Amoongus (SM202)
Necrozma (SM204)
Tapu Fini (SM203)
Terrakion (SM205)

Blister Packs:  There are 4 new promos from Unified Minds Blister Packs.  These should be available in your local store or card shop.

Pikachu (SM205)  ...available in a single-pack blister
Stakataka (SM209)  ...available in a 3-pack blister
Sudowoodo (SM207)  ...available in a single-pack blister
Vikavolt (SM208)  ...available in a 3-pack blister

Detective Pikachu (Stamped):  There are 5 more Detective Pikachu promos, from the movie.  These ones have "stamps" on them that say "Pokémon Detective Pikachu."  Four of them come in a promo box called Detective Pikachu On the Case Figure Collection, which was released on August 9th.  The 5th one comes from buying the movie in DVD/Blu-ray (included).

Bulbasaur (SM198)

Detective Pikachu (SM170)

Detective Pikachu (SM190)

Psyduck (SM199)

Snubbull (SM200)

Other Promos:  There are 3 other promos, from released products...

Mew (SM215)

Mewtwo (SM214)

Reshiram & Chariard GX (SM201)

Champions Festival:  There are six Champions Festival from the recent 2019 World Championships.  Like usual, they come in a set of 6 different languages, along with Worlds' sleeves and deck box.  They are all numbered SM231.

League Promo:  There's an alternate version Electropower Trainer, from League.  It's a Yellow A alternate, with different artwork, numbered LOT 172a.

Alternate Versions:  There are six new cards that are "alternate foil versions" from existing sets.  At this point, I'm not certain where they come from, and am not going to speculate too much.  In the past, they usually come from blister packs in department stores, etc.

Alolan Ninetales (BUS 28)

Espeon (LOT 89)

Giratina (LOT 97)

Lunala (GRI 61)

Solgaleo (GRI 87)

Umbreon (LOT 120)

On August 23rd, the "promo only" set, Hidden Fates was released.  And it's huge for a promo set.  With the reverse foils, 219 new cards were added to the game, which brings the new total to 11,878.

Of these cards, 177 are Pokémon and 42 are Trainers.  It should be noted that reverse foil Basic Energy are in this set, but don't usually add to the Different Cards Owned statistic, so they were not included in this new count.

This set is divided into two parts.  The first is numbered, with 69 cards (plus the reverse foils), and the second half is called Shiny Vault.  These SV cards (Shiny Vault) are merely reprints or alternate versions from previously released sets, and have the Yellow A symbol on them.

Here is the complete set list, for those who are interested:

I have 11555 different cards. Cool. Not many missing.

Could I please get some reward from Pokemon company for the years I've played? Reward like Fearow gem promo and other gems, as they are unobtainable,

but still visible in game, it would be nice to have them.

Hope you understand. I'm not asking for Tropical Beaches or free packs as a n00b.

Thanks and I will be waiting for your response.

I believe we are at 11881 now with the addition of the new SOlgaleo gold promo, GOld Lunala promo and SHiny Rayquaza from the Hidden Fates Elite Trainers box.

Also if the devs could re-add the gem promo non tradeable blister packs to the store purchaseable by coins that would be excelent for players such as myself with 100% of collection - the gem promos.

I'm still a long way off, although I have all from HS, BW and XY eras, as I am missing a lot from SM/S&S. However, hopefully I will be able to give an updated number in a few weeks time, as well as an updated list of unobtainables (if there are any).

Obviously if anyone already has this information please post it here before me :) it would be useful for quite a few people I think!

If you feel like helping a fellow collector backfill his collection with old cards, add me!

In other news, I don't have an exact number, but it should be somewhere around 13300, I believe

Derp, should have read post #1 before just scrolling to the newest posts. I calculated "different cards owned" + cards missing, which apparently gives a wrong answer.
Revised guestimate is probably around 12500-12700, given 3 expansions and a bunch of promos have been released since the 11881 from the end of October

We'll find out soon hopefully, but I think your first estimate (the 13,300) will be closer. This is because the 3 expansions are all very large (200+ cards) and the number includes the rev foils too (and other alternate arts like theme deck arts etc.). As such I would expect each set to add at least 400 new cards.

Unfortunately although I have much of the older stuff, I do not have that many spare things anymore.

Hey there :). Just wondering, did you add the "Different Cards Owned" number to the current number you don't currently own in calculating this? If you did, this gives a slightly different number to the actual total because it includes in the number of "Different Cards Owned" even those which you previously owned but have traded away.

I make the number 13,209 rather than 13,213. I am currently at 13,207 with just the two recent league promos (Coalossal and Flapple) missing. These two, as far as I know are as yet unreleased and are hence the only two unobtainable cards in the game currently - it is possible they will be released any day though, or already be out now.

That is correct. I come to the same number (13209) and I only miss the two league promos as well because they have not yet been published.

I noticed that a non-holo variant of the Alolan Raichu SM65 promo has been added to the game (within the last 7 days) - anyone have any idea where to get this card from?

P.S. 11,117 and counting :)
