How do you sort your cards?

So I have a LOT of cards. I sorted out, leaving spaces for missing cards, my base set, (plan on doing the same with jungle and fossil) in their numbered order that's given on the bottom right. Do you even sort out your cards or do you rubber band a stack of them?

OH, I'm having a problem. I have a few base set 2 cards and I have no idea if I should sort them in with my Jungle and Base Set cards or have them in their own area as a seperate set. Base set 2 is just a reprint of a lot of Jungle and Base Set so I'M SO ANNOYED WITH THIS.

Same as above guy I got these giant white boxes. They have like 5 rows all over 1 foot long. Nabbed a couple of those. I had mine sorted by sets. I had thousands of cards, sorting by set, by number seems like logical way to do it.

I did it a liitle differently I sorted it by set, by pokemon. Kinda hard to explain. I have these white cards that are taller than normal cards. At the top I wrote the pokemon name. Bulbasaur. Then I put all my bulbasaurs behind it, in order of which set they came from. Then I went on to ivysaur. This way makes it extremely easy when you make a deck, instead of sorting though them by set you can go right to the pokemon you want. and see which Bulbasaur fits you deck and look at all of them in a glance. If I can find my camera cord Ill take a picture.

HOLY OH MY GOD. I never knew I had this. I was sorting out my cards but when I got to a Holo Wigglytuff, I found out I have the missprint version. It's the one without the Jungle Set symbol on the right side. I so happy. But...... but..... it's all scratched up and bent! D:>

When it comes to proper card care, rubberbands are a definite no - I've had a good many of those melt on me - not pretty. I store cards in sleeves or in binders using nine-pocket protective sheets. I also have some deck boxes - ideal for portable storage.

Regarding the Base Set 2 question, I would say go with your gut feeling while keeping in mind how much space you have have to work with; making the most of your real estate is the key to quality organization.

Thanks for someone finally answering my Base Set 2 question. I think I'm just going to put them with it now because I have plenty of room.

i pu my cards in a pile, then go through them, if i find a good one i put it on my desk, then if i find that cards evolution i put it under the card. That helps me find good cards to put in my deck

i have a pile of cards.

first i seperate my cards by type. put all trainer card seperate. also some pokemon that involve 2 types like a grass skorupi & a psychic drapion in a seperate pile. then i create all the decks at once. takes more than 2hrs at least.it becomes worthwhile.

at the end i usuallly run out of trainer cards but my pokemon pokecards will still be decent. thats when i realised that mostly trainer/supporeter cards are the playmaker of any deck.

also i put my decks in seperate cans that i have. 3 cans with 3 decks each. & another 3 can for spare cards.

I still cannot find the cord for my camera so I just used my DS.

I got 5 of these giant white boxes. This is how they are sorted inside of them to make it easier for me to deck build with.

Heres how I sort the pre-made decks, when I have people come over or when I want to teach someone to play I bust out a pre-made deck. Also pre-made deck battles are fun. Especially when you have to randomly pick a deck!

Thank you!

This is the only way I can sort my cards at this point. Otherwise I'd never be able to find anything.

Honestly though for deck making, this is probably the best way I've found to do it. Sorting through tens of thousands of cards to find a specifc one would take hours!

A pokemon fan? Yes. I shudder when I think how many people who work for the pokemon company got christmas bonuses due to the 2 to 3 booster boxes I buy per set...

I have a really thick binder with a bunch of card pages in it. I arrange the Pokemon by Pokedex number, setting aside empty spaces for cards I didn't have, and when Pokemon had multiple cards from different sets, I lined them in according to their set release order.

Trainer cards went next after all the Pokemon, by card number.

Extra copies I stacked in order and put in a plastic box with the coins and damage counters. I didn't play much so I wasn't that worried about having decks ready/accessible, I was mostly collecting because it was fun, it played into my already-forming OCD tendencies, and because I liked the artwork - some of it was really nice. Then Team Rocket hit and the horrid artwork drove me out of the game. >_>

I bought a Japanese booster pack once, I think it was Jungle. The store I bought my cards from would get nice stuff in like that sometimes, but there was a darkside: They were the ONLY place that carried the Pokemon cards for a long time... So I paid 5 dollars a pack or didn't get any. Then Wal-mart started carrying them, and all the other major TCGs, and that store dropped TCGs out of its stock and quit having anything to do with them like they were bombs about to explode. Anyway, I had a Japanese holo Mr. Mime for a long time. I traded it for an english Blastoise and Gengar. I do regret that trade now...

Heh trade regrets my history is full of them :( My little brother sent one of our 1st edition charizard through the washing machine.... I still cry a little when I remember that.

Yeah I shifted slowly from battler to collector over the years.

Also my leadt favorite artwork is the ones that look like they were drawn by little kids (That art work is super popular now. One show called the normal show or something my youngest sister was watching looked horrible).

My second least favorite would have to be the flat pokemon. I never liked the way they looked. Like roadkill, they were always flat for some reason.

The art on those new Legends cards are usually pretty cool!

Well, some of the Team Rocket art was really good. Dark Arbok and Dark Charizard were pretty darned nice. And I was willing to overlook Dark Dugtrio because Dig/Dug have always looked silly.

But then we had stuff like:

http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/c/c0/Trmankey.jpg

http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/2/28/Trcharmander.jpg

See what I mean? It was just incredibly flat, ugly artwork that, for the most part, looked like they were done by kindergarteners with construction-paper cutouts. That artwork was sheer laziness and, even when I was young, was not something I wanted to support the continuation of by paying for it. :| And it was a crying shame because so much of the rest of the artwork in the Team Rocket set was fitting, if not outright beautiful. But about half the Pokemon art got turned into crafts-hour at preschool.

Agreed. Some of the new stuff is spectacular though.
