My son's existing card collection...

I think I know the answer to this but I thought I'd ask anyway.

My son has a vast Pokemon card collection. Is there any way to add those cards to the online collection or does he litterally have to start over?

The codes you need to purchase booster packs to obtain more cards to play with online, aside from the free ones, are included in offline card packs that are marked with the TCG Online Logo. Hope that helps.

He must start over but I'll tell you why as well.

Trading Card Games revolve around the value of cards. As unfortunate as it is that the cards you (and I) currently own have no use online, this is to keep the value of cards high in the online environment. If everyone could use their old cards too few people would buy new ones, and thus this wonderful game wouldn't exist. Also due to the fact that the only way of getting the real cards here would be 1:Photocopying 2:Codes on the bottom of the card. Both of which can be cheated by using google. (Codes would have to be Pokemon specific because printing unique codes on each card would make them expensive, also it would defeat the purpose of using old cards).

However if your son likes pokemon tcg a lot online, use those old cards and take him to a League in real life. Great activity, especially if you live close to a location where they host them (major city).

Thanks. I suspected as much when I couldn't find a unique ID on the cards themselves. As you say, that would be the only way but once registered to your account, no one would be able to use them again.

I think he'd like going to a live league play. His cousin and sister also collect actively. Maybe the online game will gie them the context to start playing with their existing card collection as well.
