I have a suggestion

I really dont like the fact that cards have to be locked. The fact that you can pull a Shaymin EX for example, and you can only use it in a deck instead of trading it for packs or stuff you actually use in your deck. I personally dont use grass or normal in my decks and i got a shaymin, but its locked. Im saying either get rid of the lock altogether or have a way to unlock cards.

Hmm, the thing is there are actually good reasons for tradelocked cards to be like that. There was a really well explained post about this a long time ago, but God knows where that thing is now so I'll just try to explain it my way.

 

Simply put the game gives way to many free stuff for it to be tradable. Sounds likea stupid explanation but it's more than less true. If you account for all the sources of free packs and cards (mainly the vs ladder, daily challenges, trainer challenge and the token shop) that is a LOT of stuff, and if it were all tradable it'd kind of make code products and tournament rewards somewhat pointless, or at least far less valuable.

 

You can still participate in tournaments and earn tradable goodies. I'm sorry if that just sounds like a bad excuse for tradelocked cards but for some reason every time I try to explain it it just sounds bad xd Oh well, I hope this helps anyways.

Exactly what Sakura said. Unlocking everything would make Tournaments and Code redemption extremely less important.

 

I think it is fair the way it is.

 

Only thing I would change, is make use of multiple locked items. For example, you could redeem locked items for booster packs or tokens. Say 1 token for each common, 3 for each uncommon, 5 for rare etc. So at least my 25 locked Professor's Letters would be useful :P

I agree with you guys that removing the tradelock would be complete chaos, i honestly just want a way to unlock cards so we dont have to have 10 exs we cant trade or use

How about this:

In the case you can't have more than 4 of a certain trade-locked card in a deck, if you have more than 4 of said card, it could be tagged as "for spare" and moved to trade-able. The only catch? If the player that gets the card gets it, but the result does not break four, or if a certain amount of time passes with no takers, the card will be re-locked... Also, to cut down on exploits involving cards tagged in this manner, maybe limit the "for spare" tag to one every 48 hours, and charge the appropriate amount of trainer tokens in respect to the duration desired before auto-re-lock, as if it is a public trade, regardless of whether or not that is true...

^ What a way to manage cards of no worth that also can't be used by the player because they break the maximum limit of 4 per deck...

The problem that i have with this idea is the fact that you need to have 4 of the same card. its a great idsea for commons and uncommons, but many people dont have 4 rares, especially not exs
