Regarding Android Phones

Officially, the Android version of the Pokémon TCG Online is currently for Tablets.

We certainly understand the desire for phone versions of the game. We want to play on our phones too.

The game was originally designed for a robust (wifi or wired) data connection on a PC.  The game has not been optimized for use over a limited cellular connection, that players on a smartphone might expect. Also, there are user interface considerations that could be optimized for smaller smartphone screens. For these reasons, any device that Google Play considers a “phone” is not currently enabled to download the game. If Google Play views your device as a "phone" it will come back with "your device is not compatible" and you will not be able to install the app from Google Play.

Those are the official reasons for the game being labeled as tablet only. Hopefully that helps at least understand why it is as it currently is.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

"Thanks in advance for your understanding." - Is it a joke? I don't understand it at all, there are phones with screens almost like in tablets, and you aren't able to play on these because Google Play does read them as "Phones"? If you wanted to make huge amounts of people angry, you probably achieved your goal. GG Pokemon, GG...

Is it only for a beta period or it'll stay like this even after releasing the official version?

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

My device is a phone which docks into a tablet, and it says it is not supported.  I would appreciate knowing if it will ever be supported.

Also, virtually ANY android phone can connect to an external display with a simple cable, and a mouse via BT. The only reason they refuse to list it for phones is some stupid Google Play store guidelines, apparently.

Yeah, the game works better in my Nexus 5 than in my iPad2... but, wait! My phone isn't compatible, right?
Also, preclude the "phone installations" is very tricky: I haven't a pc that runs Winzoz or a Mac, and with my iPad I can't redeem codes... so why limitate also the device compatibility when a phone can run the game and doesn't have the "Appstore issue" with redeem?

Like I said, on my Nexus 5 phone the game works better and has less connection problems than an iPad tablet!

The game should be allowed to be installed if the phone meets a certain screen size and resolution. My phone has a higher resolution than my tablet but I am not able to install the game on the better device.

It works fine on my phone. Used a backup program to make an apk backup file of the game on my tablet, transfered it to my phone and ran it. Installed the game to my phone and it runs perfectly. Maybe they don't want to say it's supported by phones because they don't want the hassle of people complaining about it not running well on their old cheap htc. But the game runs flawlessly on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

I've loaded the apk to my Galaxy S5 and it seems to work (couldn't test now due to maintenance).

But one tip for anyone with a internet data limit: don't use it if you aren't in WLAN. It consumes about 200 MB per start....

Anyone know about Chromebooks? My daughter has one - but can't install TCG Online because it's not showing in the Google Chrome App store?

It is not available in the Chrome App Store. As the app is in beta, the only way to install it is to use this link and become a beta tester.

Thanks - I signed up to be a tester, but the link to download from Google Play says it's not there.

Interesting. I just tested the link, and it works for me. Can you elaborate on your problem?

So - I guess it's because it's a Chromebook.  I found the app - but it says I don't have any devices and they don't appear to support Chromebook :(

Works fine on my s6 edge+, side-loaded using lucky patcher and blue stacks.

Please release direct download for phones with larger screens, it will help the community troubleshoot the beta.

So far the game runs wonderfully on my Moto G LTE phone. Had to side-load the apk for it. Anyone who wants to test it on their phone try doing this.

Even though my screen is tiny, 4", it runs great be it somewhat difficult to read certain text under certain circumstances.

Sweet. I will try this. Just tried to join up on my Note 4. Was super excited. Then was denied. Was super sad. Read this and am super excited again.

Seriously though who develops an android app that can not be used on a phone. Get with the times.

In case this helps anyone, make sure the tablet you're trying to install it on is linked to the same email you signed up to be a beta tester on.  I borrowed my wife's tablet and forgot to link it to my account. As a result, whenever I tried using the beta link to download it on google play, the link would break and the app wouldn't even show up.

Search for it on Google.

Others have put their backup apk online, so you can download it.

It's really sad we have to do something like this to play a game fully supported by our hardware.
