[NEW!] What should I buy? Theme decks? Boosters?

Just registered after seeing a thread on another forum and am interested in playing online.

I literally have no new cards so I'm guessing I need to buy a theme deck or booster packs. I've been looking at:

</ol>

To be honest I'm really confused at the moment as it seems like there are hundreds of different sets and I have no idea what I need to start playing properly online.

Should I buy the Power Play/Toxic Trick theme decks and play with those online? Is it worth getting both of them? Do I NEED to buy booster packs?

Thanks in advance!

Right now the game is down for maintanence. It will be back up in a little while but before then let me give you an overview of your options at this point.

1.When you click on the deck builder button and click on the "packs" tab, their is a starter deck "electric" available for use(all new players get one of these).

2.You can do th trainer challenge and unlock the grass, water, and fire starter decks by winning 12 battles with each deck, then, you can unlock them on the online mode for use.

3The sets this game uses goes through HS to (currently) EP.To be more specific its HS(Heartgold Soul Silver),HS Unleashed,HS Undaunted,HS Triumphant,Call of legends,Black and white and lastly Emerging powers.

When purchasing booster packs, only get the Black and white booster packs WITH THE ONLINE CODES ON THEM(their will be a red card with an arrow on the packs stating you can use them online) or get the emerging powers booster packs, which i believe all come with the online codes.

The codes can be entered into the site and redeemed for a booster credit,in which you can purchase a set from any of the following booster sets i listen above.

Same with theme decks, which you can redeem and use online(green tornado, blue assault, red frenzy, toxic tricks and powerp play).

Awesome, will play with those once the game's back online.

Is HS better than EP, or are they all pretty much equal?

So what would you recommend I buy to begin playing competitively online?

If you scroll down to the bottom where it says "pokemon trading card game expansions" you can see each set and the card lists. That way you can decide for yourself what it is you want.

And for a deck to use, either toxic tricks or powerplay.

They each have fairly good card lists to start playing but again,it depends on what your looking for specificly.

I like the look of Power Play so will probably get that. Will I be able to use that and do quite well online?

Oh, and should I wait for www.play.com/Toys/Toys/4-/23144635/Pok%C3%A9mon-Black-White-Trainer-Kit/Product.html instead?

Well it's not a bad idea lol.

You still get a deck which can be redeemed for online use and a booster pack which contains a redeem code.Up to you really (although that comes out in a couple of days,if you don't mind waiting).

Slightly confused, do the EP theme decks come with a booster pack as well or not? And would http://www.play.com/Toys/Toys/4-/23144635/Pok%C3%A9mon-Black-White-Trainer-Kit/Product.html make a better deck than the EP ones?

Also just looked at the store and can see five theme decks: Blue Assault, Green Tornado, Power Play, Red Frenzy and Toxic Tricks. Do they just vary in terms of playstyle or are some better than others?

Thank you very much for all your help so far.

First i would like to correct myself as i don't think the trainer kit comes with a booster code(although it does come with a booster pack)so i apologize for that even though i'm not 100% sure.

The theme decks were just updated into the shop today so lets they really can be purchased with just one booster credit. tounge_smile.png

They more or less have the same items in then but vary in play jstyle to an extent,so pick one that fits the way you want to play your deck.

Don't have the decklist for the trainer kit.
