Need Deck Suggestions!

KohakuRyuu

Recommended Posts

So, I'm new to Pokemon TCG, and have only been playing for about a week now. I grasp all the rules and whatnot, but I'm having trouble picking a deck to build online. I have 60 packs of Roaring Skys, and that's my budget for building. Any ideas for a competitive deck in that range?

Looking for a standard list.

You should be able to build garchomp (BREAKpoint), trevenant break, or Greninja Break with those packs. None of them need to use shaymin ex. Can't give you a list right now though.

Edit: Here's some key cards:

Trainers for every standard deck

3x Professor Birch's Observations

3x Professor Sycamore

1x Lysandre

4x Ultra Ball

3x VS Seeker

1x Professor's Letter

1x Super Rod

2 or more muscle band

1x switch

1x escape rope

2x float stone

1x level ball

2x Brigette (the last three are mainly for these three decks)

Pokemon for these three decks

2-2 octillery

Garchomp specific cards

4-2-4 Garchomp

1 or 2 hawlucha (Furious Fists)

1 or 2 lucario ex

3x Korina

4x rare candy

2x fighting stadium

2x focus sash

4x strong energy

4x fighting energy

Greninja Break specific cards

4-4-4-3 Greninja Break (typically you want 2 xy Greninja and 2 breakpoint Greninja)

1x fisherman

2x energy retrieval

3x rough seas

1x wally

3x splash energy

9x water energy

Trevenant break specific cards

4-3-3 trevenant (you want the Breakpoint phantump and the XY trevenant)

2-2-2 gengar (BREAKpoint) or aegislash (BREAKpoint)

1x judge

1x team flare grunt

2x crushing hammer

1x enhanced hammer

1x Evo Soda

3x dimension valley

I think Garhomp/Lucario or Garchomp/Medicham is probably the easiest and cheapest way to get started. Overall I think Fighting decks are pretty easy to play because of Korrina.

Obviously Garchomp/Medicham will be the cheaper of those two to play. You can find a deck list in my Garchomp/Zoroark thread.

I've had pretty good success with the following deck. According to the game's (albeit flawed) win/loss tracking, I've won 61 out of 72 games with it.

In case you're wondering about Cassius, he's my defense against the annoying tendency people have to use Lysandre on my Shaymin and then OHKO it as soon as I play it. You wouldn't believe how often that happens. I prefer Cassius to AZ because AZ would require me to discard anything attached to Shaymin and I don't like doing that. Cassius also acts as a sort of emergency healer because I can use it to shuffle a Pokemon that's about to be KOed back into the deck and keep any necessary cards it has out of the discard pile.
