mewtwo ex damage swap damages beautifly?

is this correct, given it "prevents all damage done by attacks from opponents pokemon-ex

damage swap is still doing damage, therefore should be blocked.

The best explanation as to why beautifly can't block Damage Change is because "damage" and "damage counters" are treated as different by the game.

I have my own crazy theory about how this works but it's kinda inconsistant so I edited it out to avoid confusion.

this is an effect of an attack, but that isn't necessarily the reason for failure here- for example espeon (plasma) attacking mr.mime. And even though the espeon's attack effect gives damage, it still is blocked.

mewtwo-ex has an attack which moves "damage counters" to opposing pokemon. Not "damage", "damage counters"

and that is where you get your confusion from. damage and damage counters are treated differently

this is actually the same as how gengar-ex can attack beautifly or even bypass mr. mime with its first attack.

It specifically says damage, not all effects and damage like that of safeguard on suicune (who would actually block this). Any attack that "places" or "moves" damage counters is not considered damage from an attack.

yup hence why sometimes i would use damage control on regice and the safeguards. its funny to watch them try and find out how i ko them. XD

if you're talking about damage swap on Regoce and Safeguards, Safeguard/Resistance Blizzard should block it.

it doesn't. it should but it doesnt. it has done it plenty of times. to be honest i think they had it set that way. but i dont think those moves/abilities actually consider damage swap as a effect nor damage. its technically aint if you think about it.

this is correct- safeguards/ resistance blizzard say that they block "all effects of attacks" and not just "damage" (as seen on beautifly and some other pokemon)

as a result, while beautifly is surpassed by the damage swap, suicune is not.

i'm not sure if you're just nodding your head along because you want to appear to have helped, or if you're just completely confused, but please don't mess up all the right information we put on the thread with your wrong info. safeguards and regice are NOT affected by damage swap

I have tested this multiple times

Did Regic use Resistance Blizzard the turn before? I know Damage Change still takes all the damage of Mewtwo when used against Regice though (that is fun)

it shouldn't do that. Switching damage should abort if one of the parties blocks the effect.
