Cards that are locked

Why are the cards that you buy with your coins locked? This is a "Trading Card Game"...There shouldn't be a limit to how you can trade your cards...It shouldn't matter whether you buy cards in real life and use the codes or buy them in the game with your coins...It doesn't make any sense to me! Again, it's a "Trading Card Game"!

The game doesn't completely lock you out of obtaining tradable cards using our in-game resources only. You can use your tokens in tournaments to get tickets, and then those tickets in other tournaments to get tradable booster packs. I think that the expected progression is:

>Sart the game with basic sets and some tokens.

>Get tradelocked cards from TC and from buying Theme Decks.

>Play VS ladder to learn the ropes of PvP while you earn more resources.

>Start playing Tournaments in either Theme or Standard to earn tradable packs.

You forgot the other step.

Spend tons of money on code cards so you can have a deck that has a chance of making past one round in a tourney

Nope, you don't have to spend a cent on this game. I have a good friend and she decided to play for a year and see how it went and started in January and already has a solid deck that was very cheap, a mienshao/hawlucha deck I believe, but anyway my point is that you do not have to pay ANY money to get good cards/decks.

I'm not gonna deny that spending money on codes accelerates your progression (as far as collection goes, because you still need actual game experience to actually build a proper deck and use it correctly). But if you think that spending money on this game is mandatory to stand a decent chance at winning games, you're gravely mistaken.

I've spent no money on codes in this game (unless you wanna count the 10 or so codes I've obtained from purchasing physical booster packs; the other 80 or so tradeable packs I've got were obtained in tournaments, and you must add to that all the tradelocked packs I've obtained). Even so, Ive made it past round 1 most of the tournaments I've played, and I've won 1st place in about one thitd of them.

People need to stop blaming things such as tradelocked packs and RNG for their losses and learn how to improve themselves instead.

I know that some things are just completely beyond the reach of those who chose not to spend any money (like certain promos), but almost everything that you could ever need can be obtained completely free.

If you struggle to get enough cards for your first standard deck, start with theme tournaments. The 2 strongest decks in the current theme meta are xy blue and green, which are free.
