More formats, or different ways to play the game.

We only have Standard, Expanded, and Unlimited.  All of these are constructed formats.

What if we had different ways to play the game?

30-card

2 on 2, where you use 2 Pokemon at a time

Team battle, 2 players vs 2 players.

Rather than only having Constructed formats, how about limited formats?

Sealed deck is where you open 6 boosters and build a 40 card deck for all formats except for 30-card, where you only build a 30 card deck. Usually the newest packs are used

Booster Draft is where you open a pack, pick a card, lay it face down, pass the rest of the cards to the next person while receiving cards from the previous person.  Usually the newest packs are used.

There is also the theme format, where you are only allowed to use theme decks,  Those can be combined with the 2 on 2 and team battle.

Using double team isnt bad but using 30 cards is

No, I think that 30 cards would be a fun challenge. Along with 2 Pokémon or even 2 trainers vs 2 other trainers.

I think that half-decks are already a thing in Japan, but it'd be nice to see them over here and in the TCGO.

Personally, I would like to see a Little Cup or a Minimalistic/Barebones format. So for example, put restrictions on max hp, max damage output, abilities, etc.

30-card format, where you are only allowed 2 cards with the same name, as opposed to 4, and 3 prize cards instead of 6 is meant for people who just want a quick game.  Japan does it all the time, and it is also one of the unsanctioned fun formats according to the rules and formats PDF for the paper TCG.

They should also add offical formats from past seasons.

HS-BLW (2011 Mid Season Rotation / Worlds)

HS-DEX (2012 Worlds)

BLW-PLB (2013 Worlds)

NXD-FLF (2014 Worlds)

BCR-ROS (2015 Worlds)

and

BLW-ROS (2015 Expanded).

Imagine a challenge where the deck restrictions are like this.  You may only have one Pokemon, and its evolutions, EX, mega, dark, team rocket, SP, etc.  4 copies of a specific card may be in your deck at one time.

For example, your deck can be composed of nothing but Charmanders, Charmeleons, and Charizards, but only 4 of a specific Charizard, or Charmander, or Charmeleon can be in your deck.  You know how Charizard and Charizard EX, or Charizard SP or dark Charizard etc. are technically different cards, and thus you can have 4 Charizard and 4 Charizard EX?  This rule doesn't apply in a sense that you may have both Charizard and Charizard EX in your deck as long as the card depicts a Charmander, Charmeleon, or Charizard.
