Hi everyone!

As some of you, I have a serious problem playing PTCG, which is every time i wanna build a deck i cant remind or i don't even know some of the cards that i ought to use for a specific purpose. And then i search and search in the game's card index, or post a thread asking for help in identifying cards with certain abilities or purposes, as do many people.

With that in mind, i came up with the great idea (if I may say so) of creating an index of the best cards in each expansion. I don't want to include every card nor only the best cards, but those that seem to me to have the best chance of fitting the best or funniest decks and of co-relating with the most useful cards or deck concepts. Every type of card will be included, not only pokémon, and each card will have a quick description of it's ability/attack/effect.

The idea is for this to become an Organized Information Center (so that we stop creating thread after thread after thread) for the players who are searching for specific effects in cards to strengthen their decks.

With this in mind, and as this is to be an index for everyone to consult under deck building circumstances, i would ask for everyone's input in case i forget or ignore some cards that deserve to be included (which will certainly happen), so that the index list becomes as complete as possible to help who needs.

The organization is set from the newest set to the oldest, in alphabetic order (Standard/Expanded/Unlimited) so the thread will take it's time to be completed. By the time i have posted all standard and expanded expansions i'll try and arrange everything by theme groups like disruption (item, supporters, pokémons, tools, etc), energy acceleration (item, supporters, pokémons, etc), etc, so that you can easily search by themes and find what you're looking for.

Before starting i'd like someone to teach me how to export a deck list from TCGO into this forum, which i never managed to do.

That's all for now. I'll be back today to post BP and BT index.

In the deck viewer mode of whatever deck you are wanting to export, then click the export button (it's one of the buttons on the panel by the save button :D). It will export your deck list to the clipboard. Then you can paste it into the forums.

Your clipboard is the virtual space where your computer stores copied items. Once you've copied the decklist to the clipboard all you have to do is right click and select paste.

Right... problem is i tried that in the past and didn't find no clipboard

the clipboard is invisible like Gonzo said. If you copy your deck list, and then immediately paste it into the forum (Right click > Paste, or CTRL + V), it should work.

This sounds like a great idea and also a daunting task.

The principle obstacle to success in this game is knowledge about which cards are available and their effects so that synergy between them can be exploited.  In game being able to recognise the cards your opponent is playing gives you the edge in adjusting your own strategy to deal with potential threats.

Personally, this is why I find Expanded so much more difficult a format and I never try to play Unlimited.  The card pool is so large, thank goodness Expanded seems dominated by only about a dozen archetypes.

Maybe the Mods can give you another dialogue box or two under your first post so you can leave them blank and edit them so the complete list can be near the top of the thread all the time as you work on this compendium.  Or begin a new thread and leave yourself a few almost blank posts underneath your mission statement that you can edit later.  That way as your list grows it remains at the top?

I was confused about the 'paste' and tried looking for a way to preview or copy from the 'clipboard' but I haven't ever found a way to preview it, you've just go to trust it's there and not Ctrl + C anything else before you try to paste it into the thread.  It works, trust me.

Making big guides isn't something that happens often, but when you do there's a couple of ways in which you can get the space you need:

1. Make empty posts with "reserved" writen on them (you edit them later with your content).

2. Write the whole thing in a word doc and then copy/paste it all in quick succesion.

3. Request additional space like fr33land suggested.

Fr33land and Gonzo thanks for that input on methodology. I was thinking on using the main post and expand it but it sounds even better to reserve a couple posts so i'll start a new topic and leave the link here.

Also, Seminc and Gonzo, thanks for teaching me how to copy a deck list xD i thought clipboard was virtual but still present in one's computer.

Heyo I saw your index list and it looks awesome , just wondering if you can maybe put like abilities next to the pokemon if possible? unless you already had that in mind and its still in progress, and maybe add the pokemon's special moves and stuff? If this is what you already had in mind ignore me :P

I won't ignore but still that's what i had in mind :D a resumed description of the ability or the main attack, or both attacks if they're both useful. The same for trainers and effects of special energies. Thanks for the idea still...that's the kind of input im LF.
