Banned Cards in Unlmited

I think banned cards should be removed from unlimited.  It used to be a fun place to mess around but I just went there and played 4 versus matches.  Each match was against Shiftry.  Each match I lost on their first turn.  I have now deemed Unlimited to be a giant waste of time and space.

The development team have said that they are working on a way to sort out the Shiftry problem. They said they will reveal details soon.

   IMO, I think they should get rid of Shiftry. Yes I play it but that's mainly because everyone else does as well, and it is a great way to get coins, but even if there wasn't Shiftry, I have decks that I prefer playing A LOT more over Shiftry that are also considered "speed decks". Anyway while I do enjoy burning the ladder and getting lots of coins with it, I also like playing other unlimited decks.

 

   So I would be all for Shiftry getting fully removed, but I also would not be opposed to it staying.

theoretically speaking, you probably did get thousands of coins with shiftry already.. what difference whatever they (in theory) give make?

i wish they would allow trump card to be in expanded format again. that card is actually helpful more then anything in this meta. the real reason it got banned tho is not cause it messed up meta. but cause it made the game last longer or beats nm decks and someone who used nm against that card lost so bad cried about it. i watched a video of that btw. the guy with nm was crying up the storm when it was used.

yea but it made it even more fun when going against nm. watching them be like why is my move not working. well cause it needs your pokemon in discard. lol i had one guy do that to me in the game after using ltc. he went to attack and found that it did nothing. he lost the game. he did it to soon to. i had ltc on first hand.

The only good thing that can be said of LTC was that it was great at swatting spiders and busting pumpkins, and that's it. Leaving that aside LTC was cancer, and it was for the best that it got banned from standard and expanded.

Uh....No! That's not the reason they banned it at all. And most NM Decks actually ran a copy of LTC in case they decked out, NM does not struggle with it cause battle compressors come back. that's pretty much most of the reason.. we should also take into account the joke it made of a major championship by delaying matches beyond the limits of logic

well then you have my respect.. I don't play shiftry either.. but you do understand that it was always just another worthless rare (at least until the cancerous version spread)

I've found that my speed vespiqueen (with night march) deck actually does pretty well against shiftry.  fight one annoyance with another.

 

 

I have a quad woboffet deck just for hunting out the shiftry decks.  is a pain when opponent plays something normal though.

 

maybe my imagination, but shiftry has been getting tails flipped a lot more recently, and I suspect developer tinkering is involved.  maybe there's a robin hood engineer behind the scenes.

I really don't get why people always throw LTC and Shiftry in the same *** when they are talking about Unlimited. You hardly see anyone complain about LTC, while Shiftry... well let's just say by now we all are capable of giving a fully pledged speech about the pros and cons of this card, as any argument in that regard has been brought up a gazillion times.

 

 

 

If they'd really tilt towards your idea than I for one would be really upset for a couple of reasons.

 

 

 

First of all this seems like the most basic solution anyone could come up with. There is literally zero arguments why something like this should have taken so long, considering that “ban all banned cards from Unlimited” was amongst the first ideas that came around when the issue was first addressed.

 

 

 

Secondly this promotes a format that is in my opinion to close to Expanded ( we could call it “Expanded + Junk Arm + random stuff”). Yeah, there are a lot of fun and powerful cards in the HGSS era, but let's be real, do you really see this format not being dominated by Sableye, Vespiqueen, Toad and so forth ?

 

 

 

Lastly I want to emphasis that LTC on it's own was def. banned for a good reason and if we yre talking about the highest of competitive levels than such a card should obviously not be around, but the spirit of Unlimited ( at least in my humble opinion) is not meant to be fair.

 

The idea behind the format is to test the limits of what is possible if you pool up all the cards at your disposal and just go nuts. Sure, Shiftry ********* this ideal a bit, but I for one want to test out crazy ideas and do broken stuff, because playing “fair” is something I can do in Standard and Expanded.

 

 

 

The devs have already stated that they are working on the issue of Shiftry and I'm willing to believe that they'll find a way to make everyone happy, I just hope they find a more elegant solution to the problem.

For one, first ticket is banned IRL because of the coin flip mechanics implemented with KSS in 2013.

For two, they can't just change the terminology, as they wouldn't be mirroring IRL if they did.

there are no SANCTIONED unlimited tournaments, but they do exist. TCGO needs an unlimited format though, or HGSS-CL will be worthless. We don't NECESSARILY need tournaments for Unlimited though.

question, is it possible if they used an sanctioned unlimited tournament that i can use my old DP cards?(ik they have no codes for online game)

and on the shyftry idk what the problem is. i was playing unlimited last night i ran into 0 shiftry decks out of 16 games so i still dont see the problem. if shiftry gets out of control just run an entire baltoy deck or wabafet. or just run rayquaza M ex. personally i think LTC just messed up mill decks and it would have been the bane of any wailord decks personally i want to see the trevenent with item lock removed because it is just annoying. (side note this is off topic but has anyone seen the offers for ********* non full art. i just unpacked one and looking through public trades the amount of things i am offered is insane looks like toad never fully left the meta)
