Free Trade Day?

Not sure if this has been suggested before but how about to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pokemon, the game offers a Free Trade Day. Basically this would remove the lock on all of our trade locked cards and allow all of us one whole day to trade them away.

This would give everyone a chance to get cards that are not available anymore, deck boxes, coins, sleeves and anything else.

It would also not hurt the market for the most sought after items since this would only last for 24 hours.

Just a thought. I'm sure I am not the only one who has a good amount of trade locked stuff they would love to trade.

Let me know what you think.

Even 24 hours would hugely mess up the market, and i'd imagine that the Canadian users who paid real life money for gems and used them to buy tradeable shop bundles would not be too pleased either.

well if TPCi would allow more than just canada to buy gems we wouldn't have an issue.

It would still be an issue if gems were available worldwide, imagine spending $20 to have tradeable stuff from the shops only for TPCi to suddenly make all of the free stuff tradeable.

The only way around it that I can see would be a system that lets us swap trade locked cards for coins or tournament tickets.

I don't have to imagine spending $20 on this game. I do it all the time on cards in real life haha. Trading trade locked cards for coins and tickets would be cool as well. Something is better than nothing.

okay for a moment, say tpci lets us do this. then what?

1. from a trader's perspective

after the day, do the cards get re-locked? then what would happen to them? for example if I was trying to obtain rayquaza and deoxys legend top half to trade for my company and I managed to get three of the "temporarily unlocked" versions

if I don't trade them away in time, do they get locked? I wouldn't want to be stuck with three copies of a fairly expensive card that I know in my heart that I will probably never use..

2. pricing-

also this brings up the question of what is a good price for these temporarily unlocked cards? since everyone knows that they will be locked again, my guess is that these cards (if distinguishable) will be shunned from the market and will receive a very low (if any) price..

3. Trade locking after the day-

if it is not distinguishable from the original versions, then that brings up pretty big consequences as well..

I could have traded a sr ultra ball for 5 full art darkrai simply since I plan to keep 4 to myself and give one to my friend..

unknown to me, these five full art darkrais may be the trade locked version. once the day turns, I just have five locked full art darkrai- the fifth which I cannot use no matter what I do..

4. and from the layman's perspective-

whether the trade locked cards are distinguishable or not, a person not familiar with the circumstances may suffer..

most experienced people would just cease trading for the day.

least experienced people would still go on public and buy the cards (a predicted 75%+ of which would be locked cards- thereby robbing them of the ability to re-trade)

also, unexperienced private traders would be confused and taken advantage of (if they don't know the old pricing which has lasted for weeks, how can they be expected to know the instantaneous new pricing?)

simply, there are far too many ways for this to go wrong in my opinion.. if you could be more specific in your approach and state exactly how you plan to combat these and other issues, it'd be better for your cause
