Lack of Burning in Standard?

I took a quick look through the cards in Standard (so forgive me if I missed something), but none of them cause the burning effect? I find it a bit strange that one of the mechanics of this game (sleep, confusion, paralyzation, and poison are still in Standard) is missing from play. Considering that fire is already on the weaker side, especially with Regice being so good, it seems a bit strange that burning is nonexistent.

This is true.

The last one I saw printed was a Tepig or something from Black and White that burned a pokemon on heads I believe, no that's not true, the best pokemon ever was Dark Explorers Blaziken:

(***** Blaze Kick 40+

Heads 30 more damage

Tails Defending Pokemon Burned (30 damage?)

It's been so long since there was a pokemon that burned anyone, I don't remember, 20 damage?

White Kyurem EX used to burn things. .. . it rocks.

Yes I agree, we haven't seen Burn in a while, my guess is because it's just not as good as other conditions:

-Paralyze make your opponen't basically skip a turn of attacks

-Poison damages your opponent each turn and in expanded with even up to 30

-Sleeping makes your opponent skip a turn via coinflip, basically a paralyze with coin flip

-Confusion: makes the opponent damages itself

And then there is burn: a 20 damage each turn at coin flip .... it's just not good, it fades in comparison with poison, so i guess they're slowly taking it out of the game, after a few sets i think Burn will be gone forever, which is bad because i like it :)

True enough, I'd forgotten about the coin flip.

Truly isn't all that great.

Paralyze has got to be the most potent, that's why the attacks that inflict it tend to be coin flip based.  No retreat, no attack, the best.

Just a straight up 20 damage would be good.  I thought that's why Ice Burn was so good, 150 + Muscle band + Burn damage would have made White Kyurem EX a knock out machine.  Maybe if they upped it to 30 damage on a coin flip it would be worthwhile.  I suppose Fight Song was probably a thing with Emboar / White Kyurem.

I'm thinking the last pokemon printed that burned anyone was Moltres - LTR.

Next Destinies I think had Chandelures, not sure what set Chandelure EX was in but it had a nasty attack.

Yes 30 would've made it useable and i noticed we still have to see a XY era pokemon with Burn, i think they're phasing it out like i said, in 4-5 sets it'll be gone forever :)
