Pretty nice Machamp-EX deck

TBH I haven't been able to fully test out this deck because so many people conceed on it once its going. It's kind of actually annoying to play, but it's pretty solid.

Often the start of the game involves people constantly Lysandering out the Octillery and Ariados. would be good to get in even one more Switch or Escape Rope.

Once Machamp is powered up pretty much everyone quits. I just played 10 games with it and not a single one ended after anyone took 6 prizes.

I've got Cassius in here, which, IMO is a good idea in any fighting deck with EXs and Focus Sash, but might be worth taking him out to put in another Escape Rope.

You can see that pretty much the ONLY draw support is Octillery. Seems to work just fine. I'm really liking Octillery in Fighting decks because of Korrina, which provides easy access to Level Ball. I typically make getting Octillery a priority over getting Ariados.

I won a couple of games because of Heavy Boot. One was against a Gengar deck and the protection from Haunter's confusion was key. Another it just made Machamp such a formidable wall that the opponent gave up.

When you have a Heavy Boot on Machamp you pretty much can't attack him unless you can OHKO him, because any damage you do gets returned at least two fold if not more.  All it typically takes is 80 damage to enable him to OHKO an opposing EX, cause if you have fighting Stadium or Strong Energy, you can easily hit 180.

In one game against Mega Latios I somehow got 3 Strong Energy and Heavy Boot, so Machamp was OHKOing anything :P

Might be good to replace Cassius with either Escape Rope or Xerosic so you can remove your own Focus Sash to replace it with something else if needed or to remove Head Ringers. Tool Retriever may also be nice, but has the con that you can only use it once. It would still cost you a supporter since you'd almost certainly end up having to Korrina for it.

But basically, the combination of Focus Sash and Heavy Boot makes Machamp pretty formidable. If you start with Machamp in the active spot it's not horrible if you can get a Heavy Boot or Focus Sash on him (depending on what makes sense) because people are very reluctant to attack him.

The nice thing is that unless you get your Tools removed or lots of energy discarded, you're pretty much guaranteed to be able to retaliate to any attack with an OHKO.

The inclusion of Giovanni's Scheme increases the chance you'll be able to OHKO Megas. With 1 Strong Energy, Muscle Band, Fighting Stadium, and Giovanni's Scheme Machamp would hit for 240 using Crazy Hammer. All the better if you can get 2 Strong Energy and a Focus Sash or Heavy Boot.

Yeah, that's gross.

Crazy pokemon that force  OHKO game like M Glalie and Machamp EX remind me of the outrage dragons, which were not quite so useful because of power creep, Heavy Boots is a way better option than Sparkling Robe for Steaming Mad.  It seems tailor made for Machamp EX.  You want the poison damage anyways.

I never ran Sparkling Robe, I just ran 3 copies of Full Heal, which actually turned out to be pretty good. But yeah, this is better. I've taken out the Cassius and put in an additional Lysander, but it could just as easily be a Pokemon Center Lady, Escape Rope, or Xerosic. I won a game against a good Mega Glalie. It was kind of a frustrating stand off type match, but he had made the mistake early on of hitting me for 100 and I replied with a OHKO for the first two prizes and so just kept the lead from there. Then he tried going after a Machamp with a Regice, but once he got enough damage on me I just Lysandered his other Mega Glalie.

When done right, going up against Machamp-EX is a hard nut to crack.

Machamp EX annihilated my son's deck today, his deck lacks the power to OHKO and Machamp swept, doing over 200 damage for 2 energy.  I like 'Full Heal', that seems like a really good way to go after it.

Every deck should either have OHKO power or disruption. If you can't beat Machamp with OHKOs (which is hard anyway because of Focus Sash), then you can beat him with disruption: either discarding energy or Lysandering and taking out stuff on the bench, or tool removal, or a combination of all three.

That's probably the most sagacious advice I've seen on these forums with regard to deck building.

"Every deck should either have OHKO power or disruption."
