Hello guys, i am new to this game but let me tell u something about new, the last season of pokemon that i actually watched was season 3 lol so i know nothing about pokemon, no idea whats EX or Xy whatsoever. so i have a few questions and bare with me =)

!. i have read on forums that it is a good way to buy a themed deck, and aslo i dunno alot are saying that Dark Hammer is the best out there but no is discussing the Buring spark one, so my question is i have 777 currency should i buy Dark Hammer or Burning spark? or should i focus on booster packs and if so which type?  EDIT: Or Iron tide maybe?

2.i really want any info about the game so any advice or info is really appreciated.

3. what are the cards type? lol cuz for example i search mewtwo in the collection and i find alot of those cards and all of them just have the same attacks lol so whats the difference? its like Basic mewtwo , basic mewtwo mewtow EX, another mewtwo ex, another mewtwo ex?whats the deal? lol

Thanks in advance =) sorry, i know some pokemon fans will prolly hate me for this, but its k i wanna learn. have fun playing!

Dark hammer is probably the best, and it sets you up nicely to transition into a Lucario/Machamp deck (which essentially uses a ton of different cards that can give +20 damage per attack, and they stack, so for example Strong energy + Muscle Band + one Machamp = +60 damage. Lucario is a basic pokemon that can hit for 30 with one energy, 60 with two, and 100 with 3, so even its weakest attack hits like a truck when you have the right cards.)

in terms of info about the game idk that's kind of vague, what specifically? it's a trading card game based on a video game, the goal is to defeat your opponent's characters using your own, and there are a variety of card types (pokemon which are the attackers, trainers which are like the spells or abilities, and energy which provide resources to attack)

the reason there are so many mewtwos is simply that one pokemon can potentially have a lot of different fighting styles/abilities as it gets printed in more and more sets (especially the newest set which has a ton of different mewtwos. this tends to happen in sets where they get assigned themes, such as furious fists focusing on fighting types.)

basic means it can be put directly into play, stage 1 means it evolves on top of a basic, stage 2 means it evolves on top of a stage 1 (there are ways to skip directly from basic to stage 2, but they require specific cards.)

an EX pokemon is a basic pokemon that is generally way stronger than a regular basic, but its downside is that for one, it gives up two prizes instead of one when defeated (you need 6 prizes, so they basically give you "double points" when you beat them) and two, because EXs are so powerful by themselves, there are a lot of cards (such as Resistance Blizzard Regice) that are specifically designed to disrupt or shut down EXs. if you dont have a way to interact favorably against them, its definitely possible to just straight up lose. taking these downsides into account there actually ARE decks that do not play pokemon EX.

hope that helps, ive only been playing a few days with the newer cards but used to play a lot like 15 years ago, and have played the pokemon games all my life, so i may be able to answer general stuff. if you want super specific things about good cards, metagame, things like that you'd probably want someone who's been around longer ^_^
