[CARD] Magnezone (BREAKthrough #54): Soft lock occurs when Energy is attached to Malamar-EX (Phantom Forces #58,#115) via the Magnetic Circuit Ability

I've noticed a bug whenever I use Magnezone's "Magnetic Circuit" ability to place Energy on Malamar-EX, specifically when I use "Magnetic Circuit" to activate Malamar-EX's "Hyper Hyponsis" ability.


The steps I use is:

  • I activate Magnezone's "Magnetic Circuit" ability, which appears to bring me into a separate process outside of normal gameplay.
  • While in this separate process, I place an Electric energy card from my hand to Malamar-EX. Doing this triggers Malamar-EX's "Hyper Hypnosis" ability.
  • When THAT ability is triggered, a question appears: "Do you wish to put the Defending Pokémon to sleep? Y/N". I click "Yes", which puts the Defending Pokémon to sleep.
  • However, having the "Do you wish?" box appear seems to make the red "Cancel" button that is normally beneath Magnezone disappear.
  • At this point, I am perpetually locked within Magnezone's Ability process, without any way to get out of it and resume normal gameplay.

This has happened to me twice already, and I couldn't find any way break out of the process. The game itself doesn't freeze, but none of the normal gameplay functions work, and "Conceding" the match also does not allow me to end Magnezone's process. The only way I could get out was by quitting the app.


For the record I am using the latest update of the Mac version of PTCGO. I also have a screenshot available which shows the error, but the forums don't seem to allow images or links to be posted. If there is a way I can send you the screenshot, please let me know.

EDIT: For the record, the cards involved are:

  • Magnezone — XY BREAKthrough, 54/162
  • Malamar-EX — XY Phantom Forces, 58/119

I presume it also counts any other similar versions of those cards (Full Art Malamar-EX, reverse Holo Magnezone, etc).

That is a problem best handled by sending a ticket. Export a game log at the time it happens, along with your decklist and submit them with any screenshots through the support portal. That goes directly to the folks that look into fixing problems.
