Cards [CARD] Chesnaught (XY #14) - The Spiky Shield Ability is not properly interacting with other cards

When Machamp uses Machamp Crush: "During your opponent's next turn, any damage done by attacks from the Defending Pokémon is reduced by 40 (before applying Weakness and Resistance)."

 

However, when Chesnaught (XY 14/146) is damaged by Machamp, his Ability, Spiky Shield: "If this Pokémon is your Active Pokémon and is damaged by an opponent's attack (even if this Pokémon is Knocked Out), put 3 damage counters on the Attacking Pokémon." does not activate. Since Chesnaught's ability occurs during the Machamp user's turn, Machamp should take 30 damage every time he attacks Chesnaught with Machamp Crush. Machamp's effect would not take effect until after it goes back to Chesnaught's turn.

 

I actually just lost a Theme Deck tournament finals due to this bug...

This is probably related to the known bug with Agility-like attacks.

I was playing against someone who was using Chestnaught with the Ability of Spiky Shield, where whenever it gets hit by an attack, the attacker gets 30 damage.

 

That 30 damage was not happening to me.

Expected Action: With Golurk's trait, Chesnaught's ability should be invalidated
Actual Action: Golurk suffered 30 damage from dealing damage to Chesnaught.
Steps to Reproduce: Put AT Golurk against XY Chesnaught, and attempt to execute the attacking move.

    80. LittlePitar attached a Muscle Band to Chesnaught.

    81. LittlePitar's Quilladin evolved into Chesnaught.

    82. LittlePitar's Ariados used its Poisonous Nest Ability.

    83. LittlePitar's Ariados used its Poisonous Nest Attack.

    84. It is now ZevKyogre's turn (Turn #6).

    85. ZevKyogre drew Professor's Letter.

    86. ZevKyogre played Professor's Letter.

    87. ZevKyogre drew Fire Energy.

    88. ZevKyogre drew Fire Energy.

    89. ZevKyogre's Golurk used its Superpower Attack.

    90. ZevKyogre's Golurk used Superpower and did 140 damage to LittlePitar's Chesnaught.

    91. ZevKyogre's Golurk had 3 damage counters placed on it from Spiky Shield

    92. It is now LittlePitar's turn (Turn #7).

    93. LittlePitar drew a card.

    94. LittlePitar played Pokémon Center Lady.

    95. LittlePitar's Chesnaught healed for 60.

    96. LittlePitar attached a Grass Energy to Chesnaught.

    97. LittlePitar's Chesnaught healed for 20.

    98. LittlePitar's Chesnaught used Touchdown and did 110 damage to ZevKyogre's Golurk.

    99. ZevKyogre's Golurk was knocked out.
