Shaymin EX: Helpful or Liability

I've noticed that there are several decks that can Lysandre and OHKO a Shaymin.  Is it really worth it to put Shaymin EX in your deck?  After all, if it gets Knocked Out, then it is two Prizes for your opponent.

If that's a problem for you, don't leave it on your bench for too long. Take advantage of its attack that returns it to your hand so you can use its ability again, and/or have AZ and/or Cassius in your deck to use to pick it up or shuffle it back into your deck.

here's my mentality...

they would have to use up a supporter for the turn, phaze in a pokemon that you have not only put 0 investment into but also have ALREADY gotten card advantage out of, while also 'wasting' their attack, leaving whatever that shaymin helped you set up to probably carry the rest of the game. so since that'd be a horribly inefficient play theres only one time when it's logical which is if you have 2 prizes left and you can score a free ohko. but if you're afraid of that there are ways to get around it like attacking with it, AZ super scoop etc.

lysander is a real threat in that scenario where they only need 2 prizes (esp with vs seeker making it far less difficult to access them) but i think that shaymin is just so good that it's worth the risk. there's not a lot of cards that are tutorable, say "draw 4+ cards" (thats usually the number i see) and don't take up a supporter for the turn. i mean, this game frequently sees a player with only 1 basic out and ends up losing after just one prize, and that doesn't make people play twice as many basics to avoid the risk. ya know?

I'll put it this way... In Expanded, with much more consistent cards and readily available ability to take 2 prizes on a Shaymin, there wasn't a single deck in any Regionals Top 8 without Shaymin EX I can think of off the top of my head, and any one of them is probably significantly more skillful at this game than the average high-end competitor on PTCGO.

The results speak for themselves. Risk vs reward leans heavily in the favor of reward. It just becomes more of a risk when you play it when you don't need it, like less skillful players tend to do.

it is the cost you have to pay for a free draw.

if you can deal with it do it. otherwise try AZ or no shaymin.

i usually can deal with a loss because of a shaymin snipe.
