Porygon-Z and Crobat Deck

Hi guys! I need help with a deck I'm testing out.

It centers around Porygon-Z's Digital Reboot attack that can devolve Golbat and Crobat over and over again to activate their abilities potentially every turn you have.

4 Porygon AO

4 Porygon2 AO

4 Porygon-Z (fa) AO

4 Zubat PhF

4Golbat PhF

4 Crobat (PhF)

2 Xerneas-EX XY

11 Fairy Energy

2 Double Colorless Energy

I added the Xerneas-EX for its Break Through attack, as to help attack the opponent's Benched Pokemon. Is that enough Pokemon cards, or too many?

I'm having trouble with this deck... not sure how to balance it with Trainer cards.

Please help on how to improve this deck, thanks! :)

So, you devolve Crobats down to Zubats, then spend the next two turns evolving them again. Or do you just devolve down to Golbat and put the Crobat back into your hand?

As for trainers:

Level Balls

Ultra Balls

Battle Compressors

VS Seekers

Evolution Soders

Rare Candies

Wallys

Fisherman

Super Rod

Brigettes

Professor Sycamore

As for Stadiums, you can go:

-Parallel City (Reduce opponent's options on the bench)

-Training Center (gives your stage 1 and stage 2 30 more HP, which makes them less likely to get OHKO'd by a Lysandre)

-Asperia City Gym (gives your Porygons 20 more HP)

-Fairy Garden (lets you rotate between Porygon and Xerneas w/o discarding energy or wasting Switches)

-Sky Field (lets you get all your pokemon on the field, so that you can set up replacement porygons in case your active is knocked out.

Btw, I don't think you need that much energy. And, I don't think DCE is necessary for your deck. Plus, you have too many Porygon lines. I'd probably go 3-2-3.

Thanks, 000dragoonite000!

I still don't have any Rare Candy or Parallel city, the former I personally need more.

I tried Fairy Garden and it helps in retreating as to avoid being knocked out.. It's good with the Fairy Energy.

Hrmmm... will test adding 2 of those new promo Celebi to this deck. Its attack is the same as Golbat's.

BTW what do I need Battle Compressors for? Sorry I don't get the drift.

Thanks for helping out! :)

Im guessing the compressors are to assist with Supporters with vs seeker, I run one in one of my decks to get supporters in teh discard that later will assist me with vs seeker

i see. that's a combo i haven't tried yet, only used battle compressors so far for night march (discarding pokemon) and the torch thingy (discarding fire energy).

the deck i built isn't solid :( as i don't have rare candies it usually takes me a while to setup porygon-z, not even with wally and evosoda. the porygon line and zubat line aren't heavy hitters, and they're not really that much of stallers either :(

I would think go down to a 3X1X3 line of Porygon, and a 4X4X3 line of Crobat and just go to 6 Fairy + 2 DCE, then add in 2 Super Rods and maybe 1 or 2 Professor's Letter.

Actually I think just dropping Porygon is best. Here is a version of a Xerneas/ Bats deck, which is actually a pretty good idea, and similar to the old Lando-Bats that was so powerful until Lando rotated. There are lots of different ways you could do it, this was just something I threw together.

Actually I gave this some thought and think that if you want a Porygon-Z deck, then there is a totally different way to go about it and it actually sounds pretty cool, so I might try it too.

Forget about Xerneas or any other attackers, you want to keep Porygon-Z in the active spot the whole time.

What you do is you run Sky Field, and fill the bench up with every pokemon that has evolution abilities. This deck is going to primarily be a disruption deck.

The main pokemon are going to be:

Crawdaunt (Removed an energy from the active)

Milotic (Sparkling Ripples) (puts anything from the discard back into your hand)

Mismagius (Works like N)

Bats

I'm thinking you would want something like this:

3X1X3 Porygon-Z

2X2 Crawdaunt

2X2 Milotic

1X1 Mismagius

2X2X2 Crobat

1X1 Ninetails

That's a total of 25 Pokemon, but it can probably work since you won't need much energy.

For the rest I'd try something like:

4 Sycamore

3 Sky Field

2 Rare Candy

2 Crushing Hammer

2 Enhanced Hammer

1 Team Flare Grunt

2 Bridget

4 Great Ball

3 Level Ball

1 Sacred Ash

1 Super Rod

1 Switch

1 Escape Rope

4 DCE

4 Water Energy (I figure Milotic is your best backup attacker)

This may not look like much, and I've never tried anything like it, but consider the possibilities.

If you can get 1 Crawdaunt and 2 Milotic on the bench, then it means every turn you are able to "attack" with Porygon-Z you will be able to Remove an energy from the active using Crawdaunt, and then possibly up to 2 more energy if you are recycling hammers from your discard pile using Milotic. So using a deck like this you could reasonably expect to have the ability to remove more than one energy per turn once you get setup, which should hopefully only take 2 or 3 turns.

I'm not really sure of the best draw engine for this deck. I just put in 4 Sycamore as kind of a default, with the thought that you have Sacred Ash and Milotic to get stuff back out of the discard pile anyway, so I think what you'll want to do is quickly tear through the deck and then use Milotic and Sacred Ash to pick what you need back out of the discard pile.

Mr. Mime seems like a good idea, but then you have 2 bench spaces taken up by protectors (Mime and Ninetales). Dunno, though, with testing, maybe Mr. Mime makes sense....

Thanks rgp151!!!! :D

I came up with and idea to have a Porygon-Z + Bats deck as to ***** Porygon-Z's attack as a "guaranteed multiple Super Scoop-up" to loop Golbat and Crobat's ability over and over and over again. But the pokemon mentioned weren't strong enough to attack/stall on their own while still setting up.

Will be trying out your 1st suggestion first. I only have 1 Sparkling Ripples Milotic, but I do have 3 Clear Search Milotic... which I prefer, but it's only playable in Expanded or Unlimited. Just checked and I don't have Crawdaunts of any kind. :( Will have to work around that and sub with Feraligatr instead.

I'll try your first suggestion first! :D

Actually I cam up with the following as a mill type deck. I haven't gotten to try it yet because I need to get some of the cards, but I bet it will be pretty good. Also I've used the Xerneas EX / Bats deck a lot and like it, but its struggles hard with energy disruption decks. So basically if you don't get your energy discarded then its pretty powerful, but energy discards really hurt the deck since it takes 2 attachments at least to power up Xerneas.

You need Sparkling Ripples for this deck, it's key to being able to recycle your hammers and get other stuff back out of the discard pile that you will need.

So I just played my first game with the above deck. I lost due to running out of time :P The only bad thing about the deck is that its really a stall deck, not a mill deck, so if your opponent takes it slow there isn't a lot you can do. So I need to find a way to do some milling with the deck. But other than that it was pretty powerful. I was up against a Mewtwo Y deck and the guy never played a SINGLE draw supporter the entire game! Not one. Toward the end of the game I was down to 3 cards and kept having to reshuffle my hand to avoid decking out.

But other than that it was pretty powerful. I'd say the best deck I ever played at keeping the opponent out of energy. I got 1 Crawdaunt and 2 Milotic up, with Ninetails 1 Slurpuff, and Mismagius. The guy was on zero energy basically the whole game. The only time he was able to do anything was when he could drop an energy and attack on the same turn, then I'd get rid of it next turn. He was using lots of special energy and I basically had 2 Enhanced Hammers in hand at all times and as soon as I'd use them I'd get at least one back out to use again.

Since you never take prizes the stuff that's prized you will never get access so that can be a problem but it wasn't in this match.

The only issue with Ace Trainer and Mismagius is that I was reluctant to use them because I wanted to guy to hurry up and deck out so putting cards back into his deck wasn't really helping me, but against an opponent with more draw they would still be useful.

But once they take the first prize you have a ton of control over the whole game, because you can control the energy, and how many cards they have in hand and when you want them to reshuffle. It's pretty powerful, now I just need to find a way to burn their cards faster...

Here is a new version of the deck with a lot more mill power. I typically don't like Trick Shovels in mill decks, but its very powerful in this deck. I'm not sure about getting rid of Sky Field yet. It does make things a little cramped, but I try to go with 2 Milotic, 1 Crawdaunt, 1 Mismagius, and 1 Porygon or Bunnelby on the bench. I may go back to Sky Field though, but then you've got to put Ninetails back in.

I too tried a Porygon-Bats deck in Standard format... Sadly I just could not get it to work for me. You just don't output enough damage to make it work. It takes way too long to set it up, and opponents just faint you faster than you can chip away after they have all that time to set up. Also: things like Rough seas absolutely ruins your damage output unless you can get all your bats out very quickly.

Some other people in this thread have suggested other decks with the bats, but you can throw them into a ton of decks, so that's probably not what you're wanting.
rgp151 has a cool idea going for more disruption with Porygon's devoling move... I really wanted some fun ways to take advantage of that. Sadly, I don't think Bats is the way to go.

Sorry I haven't logged in here in forever guys, and thanks for all the input.

@Dubblet Yeah I have come to that realization, too. It's good only in theory, but not that great in battle simply because neither evolution lines do enough damage. They don't cut it to being good defensively either, but are good enough for disruption.

@fr33land - will look it up!

@rpg151 Looping Porygon-Z with Milotic's ability is pretty neat! :D

Happy holidays, guys! :D
