MORE NOTICEABLE WARNING ON TURN TIMEOUT - OR - LOSE A TURN INSTEAD OF THE ENTIRE MATCH

This game is MERCILESS in its expulsion of and idle player from the game, very little notice if you are looking at a different window or slightly distracted!

There must be MORE audio involved - the countdown should be heard, a warning should sound throughout the entire countdown, and increase in volume and noticability towards the last 5 seconds

forcing the window to the front of other windows when it is your turn or when the idle timeout starts would be great also

additionally - the penalty of forfieting a match completely for idling is obscene, please make this merely SKIP your turn instead of ending the match with a loss

I do not agree with this. The point of playing a game is to focus on the game and not be idle while playing. It is also highly unlikely that you can force the window to the front of other windows when it is your turn or when the idle timeout starts because it is a game client.

More importantly, I think that the penalty of forfeiting a match completely for idling is very much acceptable as you cannot expect other player to wait for you doing your other business.Furthermore, skipping a turn just because you are idle is just plain wrong if the player has already given up and is just prolonging the game in hopes that the other player gives up. It is just basic etiquette to play without being distracted.

Many of us do not turn our computers/tablets on to exclusively play PTCGO in a vacuum. In this era, I doubt any of us do one solitary task any more (e.g. shampoo bottles have never been less read). Furthermore, what if you have an itch, or knock at the door, or you're out of Cheetos, or your Grandma calls, or -Arceus-forbid- you get a Gchat message? There are times when we have to be temporarily AFK for IRL things that we save to address when it's the opposing player's turn; it's hard to predict when we need to return because their turn lasts a variable amount of time (especially now with lovely RS Shaymin-EX). So, really, LostMK's suggestion is quite appropriate, much to the dismay of players who count on their opponent getting distracted in order to win.

LostMK's suggestion of adding a warning sound is brilliant. I still think losing the match is appropriate for being idle, but once the timer starts, a very noticeable warning sound should play.

Depending on your system specs, TCGO isn't exactly a lightweight game that you can multitask with other activities (the fact that it runs in fullscreen by default should sort of imply that already).  That being said, an audio warning when Cammie's "inactive you" notice pops up would be welcome.  Perhaps with an audio effect ticking down each second in the timer too?

Yes an audio warning feature would be good, but I disagree that idling should not result in a game loss. You may be busy or concentrating elsewhere and that's fine... but why should I have to sit and wait for you to check your other tabs or get another bag of cheetos!? If something is more important than the game, then leave the game hah.... Furthermore, as Deathsharky pointed out this allows troll players to prolong the game, even if they aren't trolls just someone who doesn't care, can let the game idle with no intentions of returning... while the active player stares at the screen -_-

In my opinion removing the penalty of a game loss for idling is a bad idea. Please do not change the current features.

I like the idea of a warning audio, especially if it could be the only audio active in the game. I often multitask and it would be a nice reminder.

But I am fine with the auto-loss.  For me, it comes down to respecting the other person's time.

I see why it is good and people would be against this, but I myself have gotten kicked a few times because the game doesn't make a noise or come to the front or anything.

I would like this idea implemented too.. but if possible could it be kept separate from other mute buttons?

like I really dislike the game's audio and always play in mute- if I could enable this without the other audio coming along as a package it'd be much better for me

The only time there should be warnings is when players are in tournaments.

In random battles, if you are multitasking and you forget, you forgot. Pay attention to the game, if you don't want to time out. If you are multitasking, chances are you are busy. If you are busy, don't play!

Disappointed to see all these great changes last patch, with no change to the forfeit warning prompt.

Sorry we don't need to reward people for playing slow in normal games.

This feature makes sense in tournaments when you are waiting for the next round to begin. I would be fine with some sort of airhorn or beep noise telling you your next match is about to start.
